A new Microsoft Store experience is coming to Xbox Insiders! - Xbox Wire

The store is a little bit different - easier to navigate. And it isn’t a slog on the X1S, like everything else

Great updates!

I was able to try the store and I did look for Creator’s Collection titles. There is no longer a Creator’s Collection section, but I was able to find my game with a search.

I really like the store and I only have one issue with it that is an issue I have with the old one too: when I am looking at a game, I sometimes hit the B button to go back to the screen before it but that takes me out of the app instead. Other than that I think this is a good basis for all the other features I imagine they’ll be working on.

The other thing is that I’m hoping that the backend runs well for PC users. I feel like this is a missed opportunity for MS and selling games on here for the PC could be huge. People think of PC as Epic Store vs Steam, and I think the “Xbox Store” could be included in there with this being the start.

The B button has continuously confused me on many occasions in many different apps.

I realized that current version of Microsoft Store on Xbox doesn’t have a dedicated tab for ID@Xbox games. I remember that the old one has something like this. There was also a tab for console exclusive games.

Now it’s limited only to:

  • Add-ons
  • Subscriptions
  • Backward Compatibility
  • New games
  • Coming soon
  • Games like…
  • Game demos
  • Games that we’re picked for you
  • Top paid
  • Top free
  • Most played
  • Game specials
  • By genre
  • Best-rated games

That’s a shame! There should a tab for ID@Xbox mandatory in my option. Ok, there is some ID@Xbox highlights, but it shows now only 23 games. Same for the tabs for Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks games as a one tab with two sub-tabs or just two separate tabs with additional information that Bethesda is now part of the Xbox family. Console launch exclusives should have one back again. There were also some tab for Xbox Game Preview games but I don’t see it now.

Smart Delivery and 120 fps games should also have dedicated tabs. Not only an option in filters.

By the way of those filters. It was a problem with the old Store and now it’s in my opinion kind of bigger problem. Within a few years they added more tags to „capabilities” tab in game cards.

  • Xbox cross-gen multiplayer
  • Variable Refresh Rate
  • Optimised for Xbox Series X|S (Xbox One X Enhanced is clickable)
  • 120 fps
  • Smart Delivery
  • Cloud enabled (it should be called Xbox Cloud Gaming supported of something like that)
  • Spatial Sound
  • Dolby Atmos
  • Console Keyboard & Mouse
  • Ray Tracing

I know that most of these options are available through filtering, but only in some specific tabs, like „games coming soon”, „most played games”, etc. But those filters should be also available in general search tab and on Xbox website in game cards for specific titles (like this for example). Because what is the point of jumping from one tab to another to find EVERY games that support VRR, 120 fps, Dolby Atmos or M+K (some of games doesn’t have any tag that they support M+K, like Strange Brigade)? That’s no smart at all.

Xbox app, which is de facto an Xbox Game Pass for PC launcher, should have also option to filter games that support Xbox cloud saves, Xbox achievements. Especially achievements. It’s ridiculous that some of games there don’t have achievement and Xbox network support although they have achievements on Steam.

Another little detail which I miss is that the Microsoft Store on console doesn’t say at what time upcoming games will be available. We need to check it on website.

Haha, no…

I didn’t find any OT for Microsoft Store and I thought that would be the best place to share my thoughts about some not perfect aspects of this storefront.

I do agree that the store still needes some significant QoL updates.

There’s a section dedicated for Series X|S optimized titles, which is nice. But I cannot sort it alphabetically! In fact, I cannot sort anything – only filter, and even then not all sections allow me to do that.

There’s a section dedicated for deals, which is nice. But I cannot sort it per discount percentage or price? Wtf?

And why can’t I check all the deals at once? There’s a section for the Ultimate Sale, another one for Deals with Gold, another one for a Far Cry themed sale…

And don’t get me started on all those different versions for the same game poluting the whole thing

Will they get rid of the ridiculous store update notifications??? I swear the store updates every hour you’re using the thing. Just do that in the background. Don’t tell me I need to update the store every time I go to the store

Sony has this issue too but it’s more of a third party thing. They seperate each version in the store. At least with Xbox you can select the game and choose which version to buy. Haven’t used the Sony store in over a year but they still had every version seperate.

I agree with your points but the navigation is better at least and fast.

Remember the early xbox one days? It was torture browsing the store because the delay and speed were horrendous.

Im sure it has to be a bug because everytime I open the store the damn thing is updating for some reason.
