I jumped around key episodes of the Mushoku Tensei anime adaptation. It seems pretty good! I distinctly remember skipping college classes in like 2015 to read the fan translated web novels in my car lol. I never got around to finishing the last volume or two.

So, I finally got around to watching the anime adaptation of Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru (My Dress-Up Darling), and I can honestly say it’s probably up there among my all time favorite anime adaptations. I’ve been reading the manga over the last few years and have really enjoyed it, but I had low expectations when I found out about the Anime. Color me very surprised.

It’s really freaking cute and a great adaptation. I skim the latest chapters but have fallen off a bit from the manga.

Sony influence on CrunchyRoll is beginning to show. I don’t know why they are removing what should be a more profitable tier, as with Hulu they make more money per subscriber per month from showing ads than they do from what they charge for ad-free. This is why there are so many ad-supported streaming services. In typical Sony fashion they are going backwards.

Isn’t Hulu paid and still with ads where there was just free with ads? Or are you referring to full up ad only Hulu.

Using normal prices, the ad free upgrade is $6 more a month. They make more money showing ads than they do with the $6 upgrade. They make around $9 per subscriber per month from ad revenue. That does not include the base monthly subscription charge. Its why they typically have Black Friday deals to offer the base ad-supported service for only $1 a month.

That’s much more than I thought they’d make from ads haha.

It surprised me when I saw it. That number is from 2019, so its possible they’re making even more through ad-revenue today. It does explain why there are so many other “free” ad-supported video services out there.

Heres a Motley Fool link reporting on the New York Times report: Hulu Has a Massive Advertising Opportunity | The Motley Fool

Lol imagine ad supported Game Pass

Its fine . This means more people are going to subscribe and Sony gets to pay more to translators , english voice actors and animators .

No, They should be making more from pure ad revenue than they do charging $8 a month subscription without ads.

Edit: Oh. Didnt see the sarcasm spoiler.

gotcha :phil_lmao:
