Borderlands 4 | Review

Yeah, it looks great on my screen while playing but the capture can’t quite pick that up.

Even when you disable HDR they don’t provide these super standard options? It’s just so weird, because Tiny Tina has all of those options and way more. But you got HDR good now, no more raised black levels either?

I started this game last night and so far, so GREAT. It’s already doing what I had hoped Borderlands 3 would have, but never really did. I can say Jess, the hype your review generated is proving extremely justified, so far. And it’s looking like South of Midnight may finally have a challenger for my personal Game of the Year

Hey, wow, I was right !! Set HDR to 1000 nits in the settings and it’s almost perfect. It’s the only thing you can do anyway.

Did something last night with Borderlands 4 that I haven’t done in years which is break night playing the game. Well, almost. Stayed up to about 4:30am EST playing the game. I only completed two main story missions. So far, a few minor issues but great game overall.

I’m loving it! Put in about 10 hours so far. Graphics and performance leave a little to be desired on Series X. The screen tearing is unfortunately very noticeable for me.

Picked Vex and that was 100% the right choice! It was between her and the Exo-Soldier. I’m loving laying down a couple of Specters at choke points and then flanking the enemies. :ghost:

Tearing, in performance or quality mode? Kinda ridiculous to still have tearing nowadays.

Performance. The texture loading delays can be pretty bad too. All in all it’s the kind of game that makes me think, this is going to run really well in BC on the next gen console.

Yeah, I hope they can fix the streaming issues somehow because it’s pretty bad. And it’s not because textures are detailed or anything.

Damn. But that’s odd because my brother is playing and he told me about tearing in quality mode but not performance mode. I’m gonna see for myself after I’ve installed it. Could it be a VRR thing or is that enabled for you?

If I’m remembering correctly AC Valhalla had tearing too unless you enabled VRR.

I don’t have a VRR TV, no.

Awesome game, really enjoying it.

I settled for quality mode because I just can’t with these blurry visuals once you get to the huge open map and i got used to 30fps pretty quickly. HDR is off as well, while it seemed fine in the prologue once I got to the area with Claptrap I noticed how colourless, drab, muted the colors really are. I then tried SDR and man, what a difference.

The speeder is great, but are there other types of vehicles here too like the cars and buggies from previous games? In the vehicle selection I only see speeders.

only sparro… hover bikes

Started over today but still playing as Amon on normal and after 13+ hours and at level 12, everything is finally clicking and going good. Just reached the start of the third story mission. lol

Great game. Really liking the characters, both story characters and just the general side story characters. The Voice acting is great, subtle humor here and there and a good balance of that and more serious stuff.

And i really dig this open world so far, far from empty, all kinds of structures and stuff giving it a unique look and worth exploring. I do hope there will be more than just this green landscape though, preferably some desert too. From the PS5 Pro footage we know there’s a snow landscape too.
