Maybe 2 studios, but not all of them.
I feel Raven is so wasted just working on endless COD games . Hexxen & Singularity are simply incredible games, I would rather more of that style of games from the studio, compared to endless COD games

Unfortunately yearly COD is a moot conversation because itâs just such a financial powerhouse no matter how bad a release is. Black Ops 7 dipping sligtly brought down all of gaming revenue YOY. Xbox would have a hard time justifying to shareholders about not having any COD revenue for a year. The only way I think they can make it happen is if they wean enough gamers off yearly COD and onto Game Pass and manage to keep them subscribed even during a year without COD. In that case the yearly subscription revenue would make up for the lack of COD. Maybe they even get those other players started playing non COD games and spending more money. But theyâve already taken COD off of Game Pass, and sales data showed COD largely unaffected by GP. By all accounts Microsoft seems stuck with the same COD machine Activision ways. Turning it down at all to free up studios will be hard.
I do wonder what theyâll do next year. For the past several years COD has been really good about releasing a game everyone loves, then a lameduck same name âsequelâ that everyone hates (Modern Warfare 2 to MW3 & BO6 to BO7). Theyâve said that they wonât do anymore of those back to back same series releases anymore though. So what, are they able to keep up the quality year to year now? They really should just be once every two years, but as long as even the lameducks sell gangbusters and Microsoft will take a big hit in YOY losses without COD, then itâs unlikely theyâll change.
