I got the final confirmation, due to “multiple dmca violations” (I haven’t downloaded anything in a looooong time) my address cannot have service for a year. I’ve worked so hard to try and build this site into something real, and have a career. It’s all gone now at the whim of a corporate monopoly, who snapped their fingers and decided to end it all.
That sucks! I’m so sorry Jesse. I wish there was something we could do to get this resolved. You are amazing at this streaming stuff and this is so unfair to you.
I think we should raise a collective fuss about this. Which company was this?
Also, this seems insane because you could be sub-renting and your renter could be streaming DMCA stuff and you would have no control over it. So to end your service is completely not fair.
Adding to the insanity is a lack of proof and zero warnings.
And if they’re going to tie it to the address, you could be running a registered business from home that requires high speed and everyone at that location, from owner to renter to business owner, would be screwed.
And yes with the word monopoly being thrown around recently in gaming, this is a true monopoly.
They gave warnings and I tried fighting it every time. In the end it didn’t matter, Spectrum has a monopoly here and I have no other options. I’ve tried everything.
Really unfair what is happening to you. Because you play by the book.
I would consider some legal advice although that’s not cheap I guess. Maybe money from the xboxera vault? Maybe with a campaign to raise funds?
You are trying your best to deal with the situation and that’s what it matters. You are the reason why I started helping with patreon.
oh man, sorry to hear that. that sucks big time.
I so sorry to hear this. I was wondering where you been. I do believe everything will work out. And son sorry for the frustration you going though. Well I do not know how good t mobile or Verizon 5g internet is but i believe they both have a trial period. Could be a option. I do not know. but thought to mention it
That’s awful. ISP can be tricky, but in the US it seems to be the wild west… Awful news. I’m so sorry Jesse…
US is a toilet hole in terms of ISP for certain areas
When i moved to La i lived in a 5 floor apartment block and they only ATT and Spectrum were availablr. Att offered max 10mbps while spectrum offered up to 50. This was back in 2018.
I was confused as i lived in UK for most of my life
Had to deal with spectrum and their shitty costs until new service came availablr called Starry. Was paying less than HALF of what i did with spectrum. Surprise surprise spectrum then beg me to come back by offering discount
Lol
Thats sounds insane. Surely theres an alternative available ? Why have they pinpointed you or is it a known sweep through type approach ?
The only alternative I found is a non profit organization that offers up tmobile 5g unlimited hotspots for $750 a year. if the service is fast enough it will save things, otherwise I don’t know
750 is a commitment, this is as opposed to normal internet being sub 50 a month or so ?
In the US unless you are always on first-year pricing and at the slowest tier or in a HOA/MDU (housing complex or apartment blocks), you won’t find Internet cheaper than $55. In most areas where you only have 1 ISP, their prices are $75 and go up from there. The US market is horrible. You don’t get decent prices unless you have multiple providers.
Depends where you live. New companies like Starry or Frontier work in CA and theyre much cheaper.
I have Frontier now in my new home with 500mbps speed at 50 bucks with 10 dollar off for first 12 months via a promotion. So technically 40 for first year.
I was paying spectrum nearly 80 bucks plus router cost for 100mpbs less than 3 years ago.
Things are changing slightly. The mobile market wassl shit because you had companies like verizon and t mobile charging 70 dollars per month for a fucking line with unlimited data. Then comes ryan reynolds and Mint mobile and im paying 30 bucks a month for unlimited now.
It works out to $62.50 a month, which isn’t terrible. Just have to pay it all at once.
I was even checking if Starlink was available, but it’s not available in all of Florida. Also the speeds aren’t the fastest, download is one thing and upload is another and Jesse would need both to be fast.
Its interesting, i assumed over their would have a plethora of options to use. Bastards hey
The issue is that my neighborhood signed a deal with spectrum for cheaper service. They are literally the only option at this address.
I miss streaming
