Seriously, why werenât these changes announced with the next gen Xbox? Then weâd get some clarity on console GP tiers (if the next console is a hybrid pc then all tiers having PC works better) and pricing seems more like a natural progression. Cloud gaming doesnât even feel like itâs out of beta yet. The UI is way too messy and missing basic features.
More money, than I have to wonder if the money CoD generated by being on game pass is removed, would that 300 million end up short of what they made?
Because this makes it sound like, maybe itâs this ex-employee has a bone to pick(like pretty much all ex Microsoft people) and gave out an estimate that they expected to lose, but the money made from it being on game pass generated that money and more?
Itâs always going to be that way with the people that want Microsoft to die (and ignore the 40k or so people that would lose their jobs), because well Microsoft is pretty terrible even when you factor in all the good stuff they do.
Yeah, not announcing the ad tier at the same time was pretty dumb, it gets worse because as you said itâs a bad PR move when theyâre doing it with their consumer facing product that even if the CFO had only recently started paying attention to Xbox (letâs say ABK trial). They should have realize that while the Xbox gamers are willing to spend a lot on their hobby, they are also willing to riot for anything they see as an issue (Doubling the price of Gold).

Oh gosh I forgot the gold increase. Also JUST this year Xbox faced so much backlash from $80 games they had to backtrack and arenât even making COD $80. How in their minds did they think this was the time to raise Ultimate $10??

Presumably/allegedly, from a paywalled Bloomberg article: itâs because of COD.
Some people inside Microsoft apparently said that they lost 300 millions $ in sales from COD only. They want to recoup on those losses, especially with all the games coming next year.

yet last yearâs COD was also the biggest money-making COD of all-time so what money was âlostâ Iâm not sure. The article has one single anonymous source for that ânew infoâ and then quotes old IGN and Circana stats.

Then why not walk back on COD day one? Theyâd look bad either way, but just taking cod away from Ultimate looks better than a $10 price bump.

I think once you give something you have to commit as much as possible. But more than the price hike is what they added as value which to me doesnât make much sense. But I guess we will have to wait until the next quarterly report to get an idea of how this has affected subscriber numbers.
Iâm guessing the 300 millions figure is probably how much more they could have made « potentially » from people buying the game that played it on Gamepass and comparing sales numbers on Xbox and PV with last yearâs.

Do you guys think Silent Hill F and Cronos New Dawn will get discounted this month during October/Halloween. I want to get both but not really at full price for both
Recent releases. They may get 5-10%, just to go with the theme, but overall I donât think they sold so bad to go into discount mode so quick.

Iâd be one counted perhaps - I tried it on Game Pass (as Iâd never buy a modern CoD, I wait till theyâre in a sub) and discovered itâs still piss poor for accessibility so uninstalled it in anger.
I was never a potential sale though, despite some bean counter maybe marking me as one.
But yeah this instead seems to be yet another ex-employee jumping on the Xbox hate bandwagon as itâs the simplest way to get some attention and the play if you want a job elsewhere (as defending Xbox isnât popular)

Yeah somethingâs not right with this ârumorâ. I finished BO6âs campaign last year because it was part of my subscriptionâŠthe last CoD I bought (and at deep discount too) was Infinite Warfare, you bet your ass I ainât buying a new CoD at full price, that being said I played BO6 because why not right? if weâre counted as âlost salesâ then something is wrong with MSâs metrics/data or the person that was the source of this information is spreading BS/tales from their asses.
I bet Cronos will be discounted this month, sadly the game isnât doing too hot sales wise though word of mouth is very strong despite the low metascore. SHf on the other hand is a more recent release and it seems that is doing pretty good sale wise so it may not be discounted at all. You can find both games on eneba for decent prices btw so check it out.
Crosses fingers SH2R will be shadow dropped this month.

I know the social media seems determined to keep pushing this now you even have Lina Khan trying to score points. If anything, I will hope Satya and Amy stop interfering with Xbox with the incessant profit pushing.

Youâd think theyâd at least understand at this point that Xbox and Microsoft are the opposite of priveleged when it comes to this stuff. Nintendo can do $80 games, Xbox canât. Itâs not just a math question; itâs a social one. Neither Xbox nor Microsoft (especially not Microsoft) has the social clout to walk away fine from these decisions. And theyâre always going to face more scrutiny from the public and government oversight. Even if itâs not fair, they should understand by this point that thatâs how it just is.
Looks like NBA2K26 doesnât have an edition that includes NBA League Pass this year. Basically these codes would end upon eBay and you could buy NBA League Pass for $30 but now I wonât be able to do that. FML
