It’s being worked on as of now. Rockstar and Xbox are working together.

So for all of the Steam Deck and other Linux PC gaming setups “coming” for Windows, in the latest Steam hardware survey Linux (including the Deck) has hit an all time high of…
3.2% of hardware surveyed.
Meaning 96.8% is Windows (maybe half a percent might be MacOS I guess?)…

People complain about the bloat and legacy software of windows, but I’m sure they’d leave in droves if they stripped it bare. It’s the only platform so many games work on period. And it can be used to do anything gaming or otherwise.
RDR digital should work now for free upgrade? Because I just visited Reddit and I only see comments about how nobody is getting a upgrade offer or anything.
I just checked. I see a Series version of RDR but i need GTA+ for that. And I assume if install the 360 version it won’t have a patch.
Think that might be from some other survey or someone rounding up?

(Yes I know the Steam boxes next year may help pick up the pace, and maybe a Deck 2, but just find it amusing the narrative painted about Windows “losing” to Linux given such numbers - and in particular the rate may actually go backwards once the Xbox hybrid comes out and starts to count as “Windows” in the Steam surveys…)

Typical hardcore gamer bubble narrative where they’re gaming on Linux, the people they talk to online are gaming on Linux - plus there are legit complaints about Windows that need to be addressed. So therefore Windows is failing and dead and Linux will completely take over any day now. You only have to zoom out from the bubble a tiny bit to see how lopsided that view is.

Man, that Verge title is so positive. If we’re really celebrating Linux being used by a “record high” amount of Steam users at these numbers, then you’d really think gamers would be a lot more positive and celebratory in general.

“Touch grass” is a meme with gamers for a reason. In general it’s crazy to me how delusional gamers and gaming media get in these bubbles. Like gaming itself (especially everything not mobile) is kinda still niche and casual audiences don’t really understand it and gaming franchises aside from the most popular.
