I’m using the Xbox 360 panda as my gp, so I don’t see that going well.

Not sure where this one started, but it’s not true. The next Call of Duty is not being developed for PS4.

I’m convinced the CEO told them don’t let them run you over.

Appears PlayStation does have the marketing for GTA6, Zelnick mentioned it in an interview with Jason Schrier

Not something I usually post, but ChilledChaos is Retiring his handle. I don’t know if he will do anything involving content creation, but I wish him luck all the same.

Well, we already ‘suspected’(know to be honest) Xbox stopped making large amounts of Hardware and Jez’ reconfirmed it with his article today. So, going with Xbox knowing there wouldn’t be a lot of stock to sell wouldn’t have made much sense.

I’d imagine that Sony locked up GTA 6 marketing a long time ago.

He’s from Grove Street Games which brought us the amazing (lol) remasters of 3, Vice and SA. I wonder if the guy is just excited for GTA 6 and marketing for it starts tomorrow (trailer?) or if it’s about the rumored GTA 4 remaster.

But with marketing on 6 starting very soon I don’t really see them marketing a remaster of 4, but…..

Finally. This would really be the year to push upgrades then. COD not on last Gen for the first time and GTA VI.

They don’t have consoles, and I doubt that changes. They’ve spent 3 years stopping making them, they can’t just spin a ton back up, and it would kill their focus on margins.

Totally agree, there isn’t a better time than this year to make some moves for those who are still on last gen. If they won’t do anything and just watch those Xbox last gen users just go to Playstation because they won’t be able to find a Series console to buy so they can play GTA6 then I really don’t know what the hell they are thinking…going into next gen without even trying to sustain your freakin’ userbase? could you imagine?

And yeah I understand what Jesse is saying about those goddamn margins (that are the reason for the current situation) but if they can’t understand that they HAVE to lose money at this point to essentially reboot their presence in the market then they are a lost cause and none of us should take them seriously anymore.

Realistically, people on last gen still st this point, you know if they get a Series console they’ll be locked in until 2035 or so at this point. Better to make a move asap and locked them in to be honest. Console margins are nothing when those shark cards will make up for it overtime.

Considering how Asha seems to want to put the focus back on consoles and has been making the IS better, I have a feeling she could be ramping up in time for GTA6. Didn’t the number total something around 2.5 Xbox One/PS4 players in total still on GTA5? It’s not huge numbers, but it’s decent and if MS manages to keep their 1 million or whatever it was in their ecosystem, I’d consider that a win.

What makes it all kinda insane to think about for me is that next year we’ll be on next Gen again. It’s taken this long for COD to drop last Gen and a game like GTA VI that’ll push casuals to upgrade in mass to come. This is likely a reality that’ll get made more prevalent with current Gen and next Gen. If they don’t upgrade people to Series consoles now, I think they’ll have an even more difficult time getting them to move to Helix down the line. Though that might also create an issue. With marketing for Helix ramping up, won’t gamers looking to upgrade have second thoughts about upgrading now only for another major upgrade to come only a year later? The year gap is a little unfortunate. Things would be perfect if GTA VI was launching next year or if Helix did manage a 2026 launch. As of now it kinda looks like a repeat of this Gen where there won’t immediately be anything to really push upgrades (likely won’t be for a long while) considering it took this generation six years.

There’s stock in the UK at the moment, so there might still be enough around to cover those that want to upgrade…

Sales of GTA 6 are gonna be very interesting. It’ll obviously be a success but they’re relying solely on current gen for sales, with no last gen or PC to pick up any slack (at least for a year). Not that there was any doubt but you can’t blame Take 2 going with Sony for marketing when the perception is Microsoft have “given up” on hardware sales. But with the price of both consoles going up and the economy likely to still be awful come winter, it will be interesting if casuals flock to splash out £500 on a console and another 60 or 70 for the game itself or will some decide to stick with GTA V online for a bit longer? In an ideal world Microsoft would at least drop the price of the S prior or around the game’s launch

internally I do wonder what Rockstar and Take 2 do think about how this gen has panned out sales wise and Microsoft’s I guess shift in attitude towards hardware sales? I imagine when they announced the game and projected sales for this gen, they must have been expecting sales of both consoles to be competitive and not almost essentially relying on one console to do the heavy lifting for the game’s sales

Seeing how both next gen systems will be a hard sell for casuals due to their prices and the cross-gen period is gonna be looooong they should lock them in with a Series console. The FOMO for GTA6 is probably gonna be so strong that even those who don’t want explicitly an Xbox will consider getting one to play the game. Let alone that the Series S will also be the cheapest way to have access to the game.

Exactly. This is the perfect time to at least try to do that.

Elsewhere in the economy (actually even in gaming) we’re seeing consumers take on more debt to spend more. I’m less worried about GTA sales than the general health of the economy at this point .

I wouldn’t say it’s a dead game, but Marathon’s population is pretty low. Have they been updating weekly or even monthly? It feels like Bungie is not even trying anymore.
