Don’t tell the internet. This isn’t an Xbox because… reasons.
Finally. We can have “This game just lost 90% of its players” articles for Steam AND PlayStation https://t.co/pGQ0585DgA

Could you imagine releasing this before Marathon?
Isn’t it the same now? Arc Raiders is in that list but Marathon isn’t seems very telling of that games success. On another note, woof. Fortnite is nearly 3x GTA 5 which is in second place. Crazy. Interesting move from Sony because it makes it really clear how much their platform relies on third parties. I’m surprised Helldivers isn’t even the top ten. Microsoft has two games in that top 8 and Sony has nothing. Even the trending shown in the video is the same. It’s a fascinating move. I can already imagine how it’ll be warped in conversations.
I think they want to flex on their titles, but this could look awkward for console warriors.
Do we now have to scream XBOX when we say or read it’s name, because fuck that.
The video linked in the article linked in the Twitter post says it’s “nice” because it address the complaints about lack of social features
. I honestly think the charts are a bad idea on steam. They just get fueled into weird pointless arguments. We’ll see how it goes. From a platform standpoint the only thing I can think of is like that intended desire of, “See this game is super popular, don’t you want to play this game too?? Because it’s popular or trending and gaining popularity.” Streaming services have long since done it. Seems a bit different with gaming though. Multiplayer, I guess you want to know what’s popular to get matches in, but the vast majority of games are single player and won’t be represented in that list. There’s so much overall variety in games and games are such a subjective experience. Like I said, can’t wait for it to become the basis for a lot of dumb arguments.
I mean the logo has always been all caps Xbox. Like on every game trailer the platform is XBOX CLOUD or XBOX ON PC or XBOX SERIES X|S. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Xbox lowercase except like when it’s mentioned online by itself or the website name. It feels like another rebranding change, that’s not really a change, but it does make headlines and get people talking.
The logo yes, banners, things that are announcing the product, but XBOX was always written out Xbox when mention it in all other context. Now it’s like they want XBOX to always be spelled XBOX.
Just look at XBOX and how it’s an annoying constant all caps XBOX being used in every sentence. Just because they want XBOX to do some engagement to get people talking about XBOX.
Which ended up with Tom’s post on Bluesky with people making fun of the XBOX brand name change because XBOX wanted some type of engagement. That XBOX didn’t bother tying into the brand new XBOX game Forza Horizon 6.
I agree. I just also ultimately think it’s meaningless. I am more worried about the chasing of short term engagement (the intent behind it), but whatever. I don’t think MOST people (certainly not average people) will start with the all caps everytime they mention it. I’d even be surprised if Xbox themselves always do.
Honestly, it’s very likely they have the intention to change it. Just see what they think and when they feel good about it, they’ll do it. It’s like a card trick that always lead to one solution, you will always win. I don’t mind at all.
Also we now apparently have to call it XBOX because edgelords on Twitter decided it…
I know it’s mostly just bollocks to show they’re doing stuff and get attention, but I really wish all this new engagement didn’t primarily take place on that hellscape given the bigotry of both a large amount of its users and definitely its owner - something that seems at odds with a positive image of Xbox
I also wish the engagement wasn’t so tied to recreating the para social relationship they had before, we know how that end up when they did things the fandom didn’t like.
A style guide change is something every single person here and in the press can just ignore and nothing in our lives will actually change.
It’s more just irritating that the place that got to decide the style (it seems) is the place no decent people really want to be on anymore, and so most of us didn’t get a vote.
For now it’s just this, but hopefully they don’t use Twitter engagement to decide anything more important or to offer exclusive ways to access perks or competitions as that won’t go down well in Europe or elsewhere, association with Musk is very bad here - Tesla for example is tanking hard (thankfully we don’t have to put up with the Cybertruck as we actually have road safety laws)
Finished Planet of Lana 2. Fudge me, to think I thought how they can do a sequel and wow, what a game. Ending screwed me up. Job well done, devs.
Think it’s all by design. She is addressing the angry mob. Is the angry mob on Twitter? Sounds like it based on the pod discussion. The angry mob need to be placated. The group of people who are less sensitive about these little things aren’t the target.
But totally agree with one of your earlier posts. If they wanted feedback about something more substantial, I’d hope they do it through the Xbox app or something.
I think they were 99.9% going with XBOX, with it being the anniversary and really pushing back to the OG aesthetics.
Someone found a way to check other games for population over at PS UI update. This will get messy over at social.

2028 at the very least.
7-8 years of development is basically the new norm if you want big AAA games with the high end visuals, cinematics and animations etc.
