Why don’t they just say it’s because Sony is market leader and makes more sense to prioritize first, come on now.

Because that gets them zero sympathy from potential Series consoles users, though honestly, I have non for people who used the Series S lie about their reasoning for not bringing the game to Xbox at the same time. Specially when they mention it coming to the Switch 2 at the same time.

The cheap alternative isn’t cheap enough, Series S should be 199$ by now and I know they won’t, just saying they should.

I know Microsoft basically threw it away without even trying not even 3 years in but they can still try again and have a strong start next gen.

Nobody is going to take Microsoft to court or do any significant lawsuit against them for canceling Forza Horizon 6 and Fable’s PS5 versions, Halo Remake is too late but Gears and everything else isn’t.

(Excluding COD obviously).

Asha agrees with me.

There’s a court case that someone is trying to get into court with no proof, that Valve gave Microsoft kick back money to not compete on PC. People will take anyone to court for anything, like how some thief decided to take an employee at a store to court because he stopped him from stealing.

Guy, have you seen the prices on components recently? They were banking on the S being cheap as piss by now back in 2020, but then the tech world decided to lose its goddamn mind. It’s just not feasible right now,

So far it peaked 38,000 at Steam. Not sure if it’s working, but might as well keep trying.

Any guess on the final price?

1200 to 1500 USD.

People have taken Microsoft to court for far, far less. The ABK case was a huge display of the additional scrutiny Xbox has to face because they’re Microsoft. Xbox is held to a different standard and Microsoft even more so.

ā€œWe have to be very thoughtful about each title and learn from similar cases in the industry.ā€

No seriously, how is this different from the fireside chat where it was, ā€œJust four games. This will be an experiment and we’ll learn along the way.ā€ and ā€œPlatforms for each games will be carefully decided on a case by case basis.ā€

You clearly want everything except for COD (and I’m assuming Minecraft to be exclusive). Sharma is using the same rhetoric Phil used up until the end with ā€œcase by caseā€. She’s also specifying exclusive content & services. What’s different about what she’s saying and now? Some major games that benefit from larger populations and are very costly to make are getting multiplatform releases, new IP and smaller games aren’t necessarily, and Xbox Play Anywhere, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and Xbox Game Pass remain as exclusive value differentiators for buying games on Xbox. That quote could easily be taken to mean, ā€œForza Horizon makes sense as a multiplatform game to keep the multiplayer live service going stronger and make it more of a financial success but with day one game pass, XPA, and Xbox Cloud Gaming being exclusive benefits for the Xbox ecosystem will remain to keep the value on Xbox.ā€ or it could mean that she’ll take it off day one game pass to instead make it a console exclusive or it could mean she’ll do an exclusive Xbox dlc pack. Sharma isn’t picking a lane or saying anything declarative: she’s continuing the same ā€œcase by caseā€ with equally noncommital language. This time I’ll give her a pass for not saying so directly on Twitter. Misquoting someone in an interview isn’t helpful. The interview was Bloomberg tech from a few searches. It’s a video. https://x.com/BloombergLive/status/2062636809360642349?s=20

Haven’t watched it but another article had a slightly longer quote which adds a LOT of needed context:

We’re the number 2 publisher in the world, and in order to be a great publisher, you must have your games reach large audiences to play. At the same time, we’re increasingly becoming a platform, and in order to be a platform, you must have exclusive content and services. And so, we’re looking at that very closely. I think that we have to be very thoughtful about each title and how we want to think about it and learn from similar cases in the industry.

She specifically additionally mentions Xbox’s status as a major publisher and the need to maximize a games audience to maintain that. I’m going to go out on a limb and say she was asked the hot topic question about exclusivity directly, and that was her answer. A non commital ā€œIt’s important for us to reach large audiences and it’s also important for us to have exclusive content and services, so we’ll make these decisions thoughtfully per each title.ā€

I think there’s going to be a big crashout when people realize that Microsoft isn’t backing away from the huge success of their games on PS. Not everything was a huge success and maybe those types of games will be what they don’t bother porting. It’s not like everything is going over now. Take Double Fine. Kiln launched multiplatform day one, but Keeper didn’t and has no timeline on going to PS or Nintendo. There’s also third party exclusives like Space Marine remastered and tons of indies. They aren’t even necessarily being paid to stay off other platforms, but Xbox is working a lot to support developers and bring over content which leads to a lot of natural exclusives.

Gears of War E day probably won’t get announced as multiplatform and I don’t remember it previously stating a PS release. We’ll see, but I think it wouldn’t benefit the game terribly with how stacked fall is currently and it could easily slot into a brand win. But expecting them to backtrack and unnannounce games as a multiplatform is unrealistic. It’s either they go all in with multiplatform same day launches (which I think will happen gradually for all platforms as consoles continue stagnating) or they continue their mixed ā€œcase by caseā€ outlook. Maybe Clockwork Revolution is Xbox & PC only, but Elder Scrolls VI is day one everywhere. Stuff like that.

Looking at a Windows Central Article about the Legion Go 2 (now $1999 before taxes) pricing and stock issues, I’m surprised to see the ROG Xbox Ally hanging on. Even the Steam Deck has been hit bad.

It’s a grift. It’s literally become like a marketing tool to get people talking about your game. Anyone who believes it’s true should get checked for brain injury.

Personally, I have zero issues with Moon Studios needing extra time with the Series X/S versions because im just happy that I’ll be able to play the game on my Xbox Series X as opposed to not at all. Switch 2 port is also later on. Not only that but I already have a stacked second half of 2026 so if No Rest For The Wicked launches in 2027, that’s even better for me as I have wanted to play it for 2+ years and am looking forward to doing so when the time comes.

She confirms the 30% profit expected of enterprise software isn’t expected of Xbox - unless I missed it though except for saying Xbox isn’t in a great place right now there’s not much new?

I think that the original reporting came from Jez and he is mostly right(99%) with his info.

So the 30% must have been rescinded after Hood and Nadella, decided to rebuild the reputation of each brand at Microsoft.

Yet it feels like the 30% margin is what caused Xbox to change direction.

Maybe it’s %29
