DayOne Community Hangout |OT14| New News? NEW THREAD

Hopefully so. Time for PS to get ball rolling. I have to admit, that one post I saw made me laugh about decreased storage isn’t much of a problem with first party but Xbox would need more.

I guess now we just have to wait and see if the 2026 leak year is something they can hit.

2026 would be such a perfect year for the proper next Xbox. But the rumors I keep is a Desktop PC OEM Xbox (like the ROG) in 2026 and proper new console in 2027. I hope that’s not true and if anything is flipped. 2026 is just PERFECT for a new console and to really kick this next gen vision off, they’ll need a new console at the center.

Or LOL we’re probably talking about Wolverine given that’s what the post was about :joy:. See Xbox got me ON EDGE

2026 console was something Kepler was floating, with Microsoft maybe pushing to have AMD get their development out earlier(2026 being earlier instead of AMDs 2027 roadmap).

With any luck(mostly ambition on Microsoft to finish what we think is their vision), maybe we get it.

I think at the bare minimum the new AMD chips will be required for backwards compatibility, unless MS manages to pull a rabbit out of its hat. But I’d be down for a 2026 XBox PC with a guarantee of upcoming BC in a patch later down the line.

Agreed, its also very important for accessibility.

I feel like if there’s an Xbox partner PC OEM next year and NOT a new console, then what we see will be very similar to the ROG Xbox Ally. As in the “Xbox” part will be software optimizations and an early showcase of the Xbox Full Screen Mode on desktops.

I wouldn’t expect them to pull off all the backwards compatibility and Xbox architecture compatibility promises so soon. I read what’s happening as things kicking off with the Next Gen Xbox console (which will do more to unify the ecosystem) and then throughout next gen (I’d expect 2028 because it seems like a huge undertaking) we’ll see the AMD partnership come to fruition and lines start to blur with new devices. But I also expect we’ll keep seeing Windows PC OEMs that JUST have Xbox Full Screen Mode running on default (we’ll probably see more of those than the PCs that “blur the line” just because it’d be easier). Who can say though. They’ll probably start making announcements next year during anniversary events.

I bought three games yesterday and for only one game I received a message by Xbox that I got new reward points. However when I bought the games it said I would receive reward points for those games too.

This has happened before when I bought multiple games and expansions such as for Powerwash Simulator and i never received those points. Is this a well known issue?

The speculation for next generation Xbox reminds me of the year 1999 (yes I’m old ). I was in high school at the time and most gamers I knew were either excited about the Dreamcast (living in the moment) or they were excited about the future potential of the PS2 in 2001(unable to appreciate the moment). I truly think a large portion of modern gamers won’t be able to enjoy the moment when Xbox 2026 launches a new console because to them it won’t count since PS6 will be 2028. I’ve seen this behavior before and I didn’t fall for it then, and I’m not going to fall for it now. Enjoy the moment, play GTA 6 on your Xbox PC next November, let the ‘others’ cope by waiting.

If for some reason the next generation Xbox PC gets pushed back to 2027, then it might be more similar to when the Xbox 360 launched. It was a year ahead of PS3. It’s where that whole idea of ‘the next generation starts when WE say it starts’. Again ‘certain’ gamers were unable to enjoy the moment.

Personally, I think 2026 makes more sense from a business perspective (GTA 6)… but also I think Xbox has no reason to wait. The sales have slowed down . Partially the reason for that could be Xbox is slowing down production of the Xbox Series consoles (this lines up with what I hear anecdotally online from non-Americans that talk about no Xbox’s on the shelves). Almost like they are preparing to launch a new system next year. :crossed_fingers::wink:

I guess you have to find out how many points you get for the cost of each game and if what you got matches up.

Yep - it’s also like when people bitch about the “yellow paint” on the environment, I’m someone who very much needs some identifier “you can climb this bit”.

Otherwise I’m stuck trying to climb every bit of the environment or thinking I’m stuck and start retracing my steps - it’s particularly annoying in games where some ledges are climbable but others are randomly completely blocked off despite being shorter or easier to access, and there’s no difference between them visibly.

While I understand people who want games to feel 100% “real” and not have markers, highlights or anything, many of us do need them or at least much better game design - for example I love puzzle games and often they have hidden buttons etc. but because you’re in a much smaller space and able to zoom in it’s much easier to find.

Yeah I’ll go do that. Perhaps they just send one message for one game and that’s it, for some reason.

Slime Rancher 2 is awesome. Just the whole super chill gameplay loop, tending to your slimes, exploring the world, finding resources so you can upgrade stuff or fabricate things like a jet pack so that you can access certain areas. There’s weather conditions now too. Music wise it sadly doesn’t hold a candle against the first one. That had tunes that are still stuck in my head to this day, this music just doesn’t hit like that.

So for the past while Xbox has been giving me “play a PC game” reward points for just having the app open. Now they’re also counting me playing Palworld on Steam as part of the monthly game pass pack. Interesting. I imagine this is a bug with them still working out the aggregated library stuff. Probably not the best idea to reward people for NOT playing the Xbox version of a game, or not playing any game at all.
