On the seasonal challenges, trying to figure out if I should be bothered with every challenge. From what I can tell, as long as I’m tracking enough points to get the cars, the rest of the points are not necessary unless I want to see the 100% on the tracking bars?
Anyone have any car/tune suggestions for the drifting challenges? I just don’t enjoy the drifting stuff in forza and this is probably more likely b/c I’m not good at it.
After about 100 tries, I finally got a 3 star with the nissan sylvia k car for that weekly challenge. Downloaded a custom drift tune for that too and still really hard for me.
In the UK, PS5 sales fell 50% in May. It only outsold Xbox Series S/X by 400 units (which saw a 12% rise, helped by console exclusive Forza Horizon 6). Switch 2 was easily No.1 (NielsenIQ). There will be more in today's The Game Business Show/Newsletter https://t.co/BVxmMuHZBh
Negative news about PlayStation huh? Well I guess we’re about to hear all about how Christopher Dring is not to be trusted, from people who thought he was fine before.
Question estimates and data sources when it makes you feel bad. Honestly that’s the real exclusive PS bought that’s benefiting them the most. Otherwise the internet would be swarming with negativity from the lack of games and price increases.
There’s also the fact CoD is leaving the one, eventually sports games will as well and that’s when anyone that’s not just into fortnite or is happy with just cloud streaming will also begin to try to upgrade.
“helped by” isn’t really a clear statement. You could probably also say it was “helped by” GTA VI announcing it will release on time this year for Xbox & PS. I love when people do estimates and then speculate on what may have led to that estimated increase or decrease .
Exactly there’s just too many factors to say that FH6 was the sole driver for that 12% bump, almost all gaming is currently moving on to this current gen and next gen is around the corner.
Forza probably did help. It’s a huge game that’s not on Xbox One. There’s also a lot of those games coming this year. The biggest leap to me is that there has to be a correlation and causation between PS sales being down and Xbox being up. That just múltiples all the possible variables. For one, PS has consistently sold a lot more than Xbox in the UK this gen. Maybe they reached peak upgrades faster. Or Maybe people are just waiting until fall. The experiment people want to see is if Forza Horizon 6 simultaneously launching on PS would hurt Xbox sales or limit Xbox growth in sales. That’d require a day one multiplatform launch and both consoles to not have production/stock issues or have their price forced up by AI & inflation. Then we’d need to compare it to a historical year with the same economic conditions where Forza or an Xbox exclusive with similar draw to Forza didn’t launch same day on PS.
I really don’t think Forza being a not even year timed exclusive is what’s saving the day. Xbox has not hidden at all that it’ll be coming to PS this year, and several months of FOMO wouldn’t push PS gamers to switch. Most likely it’s Xbox stabilizing a bit in terms of pricing and there just being a major game popular with Xbox gamers pushing last gen Xbox gamers to upgrade. PS being down has its own pile of possible reasons and based on Forza Horizon 5 sales years (not months) after being exclusive, I don’t think Xbox’s success is near the top.
Fun to speculate but Xbox should be able to determine what is happening just bc they know everyone’s login. The know exactly how many transitioned from Xbox one, how many are brand new customers, and who bought the game. Even knowing the customers age provides a decent clue. So Xbox has good data to figure this all out.
Yes, Xbox does. We don’t and we do know Xbox doesn’t share this data. People pulling estimates certainly don’t. I think everyone could serve to chill on the whole exclusives thing. Xbox will do their due diligence with data analytics, but that won’t come from third parties doing estimates or people doing leaps on logic about those third party estimates. Also neither us nor Xbox are privy to Sony’s data on why sales are down there.
I kinda feel sorry for Sharma. It felt like people had at least started to accept Xbox doing ports. A few tweets/vague comments later about “still making decisions on exclusivity” and every little thing has to be evidence for or against why Xbox should or shouldn’t decide to make every single game exclusive. It really reached a head with Jez’s post about day one GP or exclusives. And it hasn’t even been that long since Sharma took over and made those comments. Its been like three months since she took over. How’s she even supposed to gather and analyze data in that time? In reality she’d need at least a year and exclusives would be a decision to give a stronger answer on with next gen.
Actually people don’t believe Xbox when they do share the data. They already have Forza Horizon 5 data showing that a PS launch increased engagement across PC & Xbox gamers. They proudly shared that and that the same happened with Sea or Thieves.
I just realized that one of the achievements required an insane amount of grinding to reach lvl 100 in those multiplayer modes, which could be hundreds of hours of grinding. Unless something changes, guess I won’t be able to go above 970 achievement points
