Games Analysis |OT| Time To Argue About Pixels And Frames!

Would people here be interested in a quick follow up video? Go figure I just deleted all of my original source footageast night but can use the previous video as reference and just slide or flip to the most recent patch.

At first glance, the performance does seem to have taken a hit. So instead of more A/B comparisons, I can just have some longer segments showing frame rate results, similar to what we see on the VG Tech channel.

There some really nice features on the Series consoles that don’t get enough praise IMO. XBox VRR implementation is so much better than SONY’s. I also really like Dolby Atmos or even how HDR is added to BC games

From this small sample IQ looks to be back at launch levels (plus from what I’ve played yesterday DoF looks pretty nice again) and the performance while not as good as it was at 1.04 it looks like it is 5-6 frames higher than launch. Curious to see how it compares in the bigger battles.

Can’t wait for Kage’s video!

Street Fighter 6 demo is a weird one.

Playing in the resolution mode in the story mode. It’s smooth at 60fps when walking around in 3D, but it’s clearly 30fps when fighting, which is 2D. Very odd, and feels jarring too.

But in fighting ground, which is versus it’s all fine.

Very odd.

Curious if that was deliberate decision based on fighting mechanics and netcode for cross-play.

Or is Fighting Grounds at 60 fps?

Fighting grounds definitely is 60fps, yes.

Seeing the negative reactions the latest Star Wars Jedi game is receiving as a result of its performance issues (for example on the PS5 & PC), it might make the reactions to Arkane’s decision to lock Redfall at 30 fps at launch a bit more nuanced going forward. I hope anyway.

Because if there’s one thing worse than no 60 fps mode… it’s a broken 60 fps mode which even drops below VRR range.

All platforms are taking a heavy hit? Which one is getting hit the worse?

PC

It depends on where people are playing. It’s getting hammered on PC (on steam as well) but there’s also lots of PS5 players on reset complaining about HDR problems, glitches & bad performance. I also watched a framerate video on the Series X version & performance mode dipped into the mid 40’s regularly.

Yeah, I should have excluded it. I know certain someone is about to go Incredible Hulk mode.

We all know Jedi Survivor is a mess on PC, and not exactly flawless on consoles either. According to Gaming Tech consoles wise Xbox especially is bad, he has both versions.

I guess I shouldn’t even be shocked. Read plenty of negativity about performance on PS5, when that’s the case I don’t exactly expect the devs to have made the Xbox version much better.

You should watch Jesse’s stream of Jedi Survivor from yesterday. What I saw was a fun game.

I think that gets lost in everyones hyper-focus on performance. Most of the reactions I’m seeing sound like drama teens where everything is the end of the world. It isn’t healthy for the enjoyment of a hobby.

The thread is called Game Analysis though lol, if there’s anywhere to be hyper fixated on performance, it’s this thread.

Not to the point of being concerned, thinking of not playing great games, or not enjoying the hobby.

Games are expensive, if people want to hold off on buying a product until its in it’s best version of itself, more power to them.

Framerate looks horrible on both PS5 and XSX to my eye. Publishers just don’t seem to care about releasing polished titles anymore, with PS5 having typically least issues as it’s the lead platform for most devs and having most development time by the time the game is released.

I hope the 30fps in Redfall is not a sign the game is being shitted out the door with other unknown issues.

For Jedi we know it will come to EA Play and GPU down the road, so it will be an extremely cheap way to play it eventually.

Well said. I haven’t seen any hyperbole here yet.
