Gothic Remake Comparison

For anyone interested I guess.

It’s available now? I thought the trailer said July, interesting!

They get early access for testing, also it’s rough. I don’t know how it runs on PS5 but it very noticeably lagging a bit.

I watched the beginning of this. John compared the gears graphics and gameplay as based on a couple ps games he likes. Oliver doesn’t know gamepass costs money and that xbox releases their games on multiple pc stores. Plenty of frame rate comments on a game that has 6 months to go. Yeah, your typical DF video.

The mandatory comment/comparison of almost everything to Killzone 2 and to Uncharted from Lineman is funny at this point, he is such a big fan of the series that he forgot Gears 2 had destructible cover before Killzone 2…also when Oliver is talking about exclusivity on Xbox it’s like you are listening to a PS fanboy on resetera, besides the ā€œSeries consoles have sold 30m consolesā€ BS comment I hope he keeps the same energy with Sony’s games too now that Sony is pulling back from PC. Sony should port Saros on PC, Xbox and Switch 2 because the game didn’t do that well on PS5? am I right?

As you said typical DF video.

My issue with DF, is that they’re a perfect example of what @Sikamikanico was saying in his article about the industry speaking on Xbox, when they don’t actually engage with the ecosystem.

For example, take this question from one of their patreons who’s a fan of Quick Resume, asking if Sony could implement a similar feature:

The responses from John & Oliver show that they likely play a game on Xbox for their content, but then go straight back to their PC’s, as a lot of the issues they have with QR, have been solved, or have been shown to be a result of devs not utilising it correctly.

Take Forza Horizon; QR kinda worked in 4 & 5, in that it would load you exactly where you were, but the online portion was messed up and wouldn’t load a fresh session. It also wouldn’t load a new calendar season until you restarted the game iirc. With FH6 though, all those have been solved.

Halo Infinite MP did not work well with it either, but today we have Arc Raiders (I think?), which does.

I never know what people are talking about with Quick Resume being buggy. I’ve played dozens of games on my Series X, I use it practically every day of the year, and I’ve scarcely ever had issues with Quick Resume. I must just be the luckiest person ever? To hear other people talk like it’s so glitchy as to be unusable… It is what it is. If they can talk about their perception of their experience, I can talk about mine. :man_shrugging:

Anyway I thought DF was pretty positive about the showcase. John and Oliver were even hyped up by the transparent green console!

It’s only ever had issues with online components in games.

Yeah, games that rely on an initial online connection would clearly have issues with that, but otherwise, and other than games having updates, QR has worked very reliably for me.

I mean… I wouldn’t even call that an issue with Quick Resume, that’s just the nature of how an online game works. It would be like asking why you can pause a recording but not a phone call.

Anyway I’ve played 35 hours of FF7 Rebirth, every day since it came out and I’ve only seen the title screen the one time. Typical Quick Resume experience.

Yeah, they were to be fair. I’d just been meaning to blast them about the QR segment, but forgot!
