…de jack, but i mean, you can finish the game without those upgrades, and even if you would be able to do so in an open world inside a city, that can help you to go faster to things, also i still believe that gears should take some things from the Survival horror (i mean, it took a lot from re 4 at the start) because you can easily make an open world in a City that makes you find new routes because you dont have enough ammo for all fights you might find, and so that makes the player to explore for new routes, and ammo. I felt the open world of 5 like brutal legend, the thing its that because the last one tries to makes fun (a really big joke, play the game, you might have some laughs) , you dont even bother that the open world its empty, and even when its empty, it had more side quest than 5.

Yeah, small villages or cities with a complete side story questline that open up Gears universe, that would be great, not just to find tags and upgrades like in 5. I think a bit of mass effect, surely it had some fecth quests, but i remember some really good side lines, introducing us to cerberus, omega, etc… They could add some fetch quests on Gears too, like hunt swarm captains here in there, bust some hives, making then available in a city board like the witcher 3 did, but should be minor. Hope TC expands meaningfully their open world ideias in the next gears.

I’m really impressed with the way Hivebusters looks! I must say, The Coalition simply just don’t get enough credit for the work they do, especially when it comes to visuals.

Well yes but thanks to their nature it is interconnected and therefore has to follow certain rules. I don’t mind the openness of the map as long someone leads my way in case of gears a story.

Also I love Tomb Raider but I don’t expect this kind of game in a gears game. Thus other games are made for. Also what does discovery has to do with 3-4 missions that are checkpoints on the map you have to do all of them anyways?

As I said earlier it’s better to embrace the optional stuff for what it is (instead of overthinking it) and use it as a tool to change or even improve the pacing of the game. I don’t know if you’ve already played the game on Insane but in that mode it helped me to chill out a bit between the challenging main missions, those sections were a cool break.

They are indeed extremely talented. Technically the studio is right up there with the best of the industry. I mean they got a game as good looking as Gears 5 running at a very stable 30fps on a base Xbox One for goodness sake while most of the rest of the industry is shitting the bed when it comes to the base Xbox One version of their games.

I play on hard normally if I need a break I turn my console off or play something else

Well yeah do what is best for you, I just pointed out how you can use those sections as a benefit rather than a hindrance. If the hubs bother you that much then feel free to turn off your console.

The optional stuff is not forced anyway but yeah you should play it with a fresh mind and accept those sections for what they are. Try and be a little positive about them for a change.

Never​ I had some other issues with the game. I think it missed a couple setpieces and also had some problems with the story. The decision at the end was a bit strange and I don’t like the twist with the villain. Kind of limited the possible plot in gears 6 and forward. However Hivebuster showed my that TC is still able to bring some hot action and thus I’m excited for gears 6.

Almost none games try to be a action ride anymore and gears is this lonely pillar among all these adventure games. Hell even Uncharted 4 has way less blockbuster movie appeal than UC 1-3…

That why I don’t want this open world stuff, so many games have this and I would like this genre to stay alive. Show me something that is similar to gears that came this gen…

I’m impressed with the DLC. Best looking game money can buy right now. And the gameplay of Gears is still top notch. Love it.
