Emergence Begins.
Experience the brutal horror of Emergence Day through the eyes of Marcus Fenix in the origin story of one of gaming’s most acclaimed sagas.
Fourteen years before Gears of War, war heroes Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago return home to face a new nightmare: the Locust Horde. These subterranean monsters, grotesque and relentless, erupt from below, laying siege on humanity itself.
Built from the ground up with Unreal Engine 5, Gears of War: E-Day delivers unprecedented graphical fidelity.
Not playing this in early access, so I still have a few days to beat Halo Campaign Evolved and delete it off the SSD to make room for this monster. ![]()
Can’t wait to play this on day five!
Yeah, tbh it still feels shitty that the proper launch is next week.
Reviews are stellar. Genuinely wondering if we could see Gears nominated for a Keighley GOTY this year.
This early access thing I believe started with Gears 4
If it happens it’ll only be as revenge for Sony hurting his bestie lol
AAA game with campaign, multiplayer, co-op, and split-screen at launch in 2026… Is this allowed?

EDIT: Working now!
I am going to give in with the early access as it releases on a Tuesday and I don’t play much in the week but I have Monday off work.
And at 70 euros instead of 80 too! but yeah we don’t see many so packed in terms of content/modes AAA games anymore.
Can’t wait to dive in tonight, will play at balanced mode and Insane solo. It will be a long night I think. ![]()
This is what Activision halo should be like. This is one of the best games of the year.
This game is off-the-scale amazing on every level, but I must mention the sound; the best use of Dolby Atmos in any game so far, by a country mile.
This game is insane
It looks unbelievable on Series X, like playable cinematics graphics at 60 FPS.
Yes. Looks absolutely insane on a 65" OLED.
I usually don’t care that much, but yeah this kind of made my jaw drop lol.
Yeah It looks insane - like there might be too much detail lol.
Admittedly, Epic made some significant upgrades to the engine but we all knew The Coalition would be the developer to make UE5 truly shine.
I’m not a huge enough fan to get early access, and I need to finish off The Blood of Dawnwalker (and record both the negative and positive on the backlog lol) but think I’ll start this next week given the great reviews
Purchased the Premium Edition Upgrade for $30 a few weeks ago and I can easily say that it was well worth paying the extra money to start playing the game early. Won’t say how far along im in story wise but I have put 8 hours into the game (6+ officially in game since im guessing cinematics and pauses don’t count towards play time) and as of right now, I can honestly say that this is going to be my 2026 game of the year.
Speaking of game of the year, I just realized that Microsoft will have given me three game of the years this generation and that’s all thanks to Phil Spencer who made it happen. Halo Infinite, Starfield and now Gears of War: E-Day. If Fable (which im super hyped for) wins my 2027 game of the year, then damn, that’s one hell of an accomplishment considering the fact that the last time I had a game of the year from Microsoft was in 2008 with Gears of War 2. So to go 13 years until Halo Infinite and potentially give me four of them this generation speaks volumes.
The sound in this game is the best ever in any video game. The best use of Atmos I’ve experienced in film or a game ever, it just fills the room with sound everywhere & makes fantastic use of the ceiling speakers
