The horrible part is the character class experience that is needed to get the next ability card unlock for Horde and Escape. Also in the cost of improving or leveling the abilities. That is so grindy and slow. Is that the aspect you’re talking about?
I dont mind the daily challenges and stars portion as that is strictly optional and only unlocks cosmetics and game currencies.
I’m not the biggest fan of no base exp per match, but I can’t say it bothers me that much. As long as I don’t go 3+ matches without making any progress towards the next tier, then I have no issues.
Using challenges, our goal is that you will always be earning progress in your Battle Pass through playing and winning matches. This will allow you to always jump into a game of Halo and make progress on your goals.
I’d like to imagine the challenges are geared towards winning rather than nebulous things that take attention away from playing the game
I thought the challenges were great in the Tech Test. I hope they keep it simple and not too distracting.
Not like Gears 5 where the challenges are a bit annoying to do and take you out of the game sometimes, yeah.
There is no “fanbase” that pivots from one complaint to the next as quickly as the Halo one, I swear if people keep talking about this god damned cosmetic leveling system all day every day now I’m going to lose my mind.
Gamepass has made it so I don’t have to spend too much money on games a year, I’m not the type to double dip. There are a handful of games I can remember where I played it then obsessively (didn’t own them) and then went out and got them. Wrestlemania 2000 on N64 and GTA Vice City.
I remember renting Wrestlemania like 5xs from blockbuster and finally getting my parents to get me the game afterwards. With Vice City, my buddy had it and let me borrow it and I ended up purchasing it anyway.
Now I bring all that up because I had no intention of purchasing Halo Infinite with it being on Gamepass, I figured I would just pour money into the multiplayer. But now I’m really on the verge of preordained the physical edition.
I own all of the limited editions of Halo, from Halo 2-Halo 5. This one is super tempting because it looks great and it’s a steel book!!!
If they only make progression possible through challenges, there need to be a lot of challenges at a time. And not only 3 to 4 per day. That would be a way to do it. MCC always has a lot of challenges, that’s why it never bothered me to much.
But still, getting exp for matches is the better and more satisfying way to do it. I just think that you should always make progress and make progress faster if you are killing it in a match.
With the only challenge approach, that is not always a given.
I hope they figure out a good way to do it. I want this game to kill it at launch. And not have these simple to avoid bumps in the road.
To be fair, you could argue that challenges do reward you for killing it in a match.
For example, if you have one that’s like “get 15 kills” and you do very well in a match, you’ll finish that challenge quicker and be able to move on to the next one faster too.
It’s a more versatile system than just exp per match imo, and it does encourage trying out some new things or different play styles at times. Stuff like “get 5 plasma grenade kills” would have you focus a little more on actually using the numerous plasma grenades everyone picks up.
I don’t see the presumption, the instant we got the main complaint out of the way (release date) something else immediately took its place and is now dominating discussion around the game.
True, but that’s only because these information are being drip fed. This system was present since the flight but 343 didn’t talk about it actually being a deliberate decision until now, and that too got to know from a reply from Junyshek to Halo streamers question on twitter. That’s the reason why you’re seeing people going back and forth, even after the release date. The two have no connection.
I dont think its any conspiracy theory. People want to know about the campaign and want to see how f2p h
Has changed the traditional xp earning in Halo.
Questions will never stop until its out and until then more stuff will come out.
lol I don’t think these streamers and pros and community members are all part of some cartel with some ulterior motive. Would be really cool if that were a thing tho
