I don’t want to go off topic too much, so I’ll just leave it at: Sony probably knew that as this existing contract ends, they could get in a bidding war with MS for another marketing rights contract, one that they might lose. And maybe they have their own games planned as a contingency.
Ultimately, a 10 deal gives them a good amount of time to make something like a first person SOCOM.
It’s funny because with a 10 year deal, it guarantees CoD on the PS6. If by then Sony doesn’t have a high quality MP FPS, I’d be surprised. PlayStation Studios are some of the best storytellers and having Bungie to lean on (they wouldn’t develop it, I realize that) it’s just inevitable that they’ll have a fantastic FPS out again.
