this is insane im in an series x group on facebook and one of our mods think this is a big L for sony which in a way it is unless it goes into PS Plus or PS now
This collateral cliff jump effect is coming for Sony. Most of the income is through third party, and if fans switch there wonât be enough third party income.
Imagine this - last gen Xbox was able to make 12bn from 40 M users while Sony made 20bn from 120M users. Their income was not 3x of Xbox. This means consumers on Xbox are willing to spend. That 40M is not completely casual gamers but would be largely core gamers, Whereas on the Sony side most of them would have been casual.
Doesnât really matter, Xbox had the news out first and got the complete impact. Good job again Xbox marketing.
yea the xbox news article was written by a MLB executive by the way
Oh now thatâs interesting. Leads credence to the theory that this was between Xbox and the MLB.
Yea someone pointed it out on Twitter
Wonder if Microsoft will be a big sponsor then this year of MLB?
Damn⌠They really suck.
Good catch! (no pun intended)
That does suggest Sony was somewhat hands off on the publishing side of things for the Xbox version, which tbh almost seems to make Sony look worse.
EDIT: This gif was more fitting I feel.
So what weâre saying is⌠we need to get the MLB to publish The Last Of Us, God of War, and Horizon?
Iâll make some calls!

That is a tricky strategy for them.
Letâs see - - So, for every console a 5 USD per month price is enough for Sony to give a brand new first party game? I doubt it. That works only in a servixe model.
Jim Ryan himself said that was not sustainable for them. That is a business fact that they cannot run away from. Their real hope is to sell more consoles, and hope that the third party increased pricing will earn them enough in the quarter. This is where the battle is being won by Xbox. Almost taking away users for third party AAA from them.
Honestly, if I were a PS-user who loved MLB this is where I jump ship.
Remembering the launch of gamepass and how it didnât look so hot⌠Wow, the catalogue growth is crazy in retrospect !
We were talking about some third party games launching day one as if it was impossible not so long ago. MS and Xbox making gigantic moves ! Itâs awesome.
yep more evidence this is between xbox and MLB
