Watched Predator Badlands and I had a good time. It felt like a buddy movie with action scènes in a SciFi setting and the Disney influence absolutely is noticeable here. I can see why a thirteen year old can watch this.
I liked the creatures, Bud was cool, the bond between the main characters, the locations and the action. But it did feel too tame, too clean and too safe to me. I’ve seen negative reviews by hardcore Predator (80s) fans and I do get their disappointment. This movie couldn’t be further away from the classics, that gritty vibe from those movies is long gone.
But if you can manage to just keep them apart, you’ll enjoy it.
Next on the cinema theater watch list is Sisu: Road to Revenge, Now you see me 3, Frankenstein (can watch on Netflix, but i think this is a cinema movie and besides I don’t have a subscription to my cinema theater for nothing.) Also Keeper , The running Man for this month.
It did feel PG-13 but if it helps they play by “It’s not humans, so it’s okay.” rules. There’s a lot of on screen death, blood, and lethal action… there are just no humans at all in the movie. It did distinctly feel not M rated, but I don’t think that was necessarily a bad thing.

Lmao, I should read bottom up . Yeah, like I said I went in with this being my first Predator experience ever and it was great. Probably the best way to view it. I knew of the basic premise of the OG predator movie, but that’s it. I do like the idea of expanding what Predator can be and exploring the universe beyond stalking monsters for humans.
I actually went for a second watch just today. I still really enjoyed it, but something I could notice more on a second viewing was the pacing. It’s not particularly terrible, but it does feel somewhat like they wanted to wrap up every possible major thread and then leave some worthless kinda related, really not, sequel bait at the end. The movie felt like it could’ve been a trilogy, but ultimately the team behind it probably didn’t expect a sequel.
And I’m curious where they go after this. I’d be curious if they try following both tracts. It’s a whole universe and species, I don’t see why they’d have to pick a singel genre.
Watched Sisu again yesterday, still love it. Just great. Some stuff can be a bit over the top but nothing that just felt off to me.
The same sadly can’t be said about the sequel in my opinion. They went overboard with the over the top scenes and so bad that it just becomes comical. Still a fun time but nowhere near as good as the first one.
And just now Frankenstein by Del Toro, oh boy I loved this one. A very special movie that had me glued to the screen from start to finish, awesome!
Honestly, I’ve never really watched much of the story except for the one in Penny Dreadful. But it is a retelling but with new things, to say more is to spoil and that would be a shame. Highly recommend it because it looks fantastic, very,very well acted as expected, also as expected a great atmosphere and just damned great.
In some (very important)ways it stays loyal to the original story , but takes some liberties with others but never in a bad way.
I watched this a couple of weeks ago and was a bit disappointed, to be honest. Typical modern Hollywood with a bunch of nonsense thrown in and everything filmed in front of a green screen with unrealistic CGI. (Whatever happened to actual film making?) Oh, and the monster is now The Hulk, apparently.
That said, most people seemed to enjoy it. So maybe it’s just me.

Saw Now you see me 3 today at the cinema, only because i needed to kill a few hours and nothing else was on at the time. Really didnt want to see it. Its ok, just predictable camera trickery to accentuate magic, pretty corny script, not a cinema movie… lucky i got in for $9 AUD
So its been a couple of jam packed movie days over this way. I love visiting the cinema, so if opportune arrives for some back to back sessions, im in.
Saw Predator Badlands today. Hard to sum up, as this one weighs heavily historically.
Someone earlier this week said they think the original is held in to high a regard. This also lines up with saying games were never as good as they are now. People forget, or simply wont agree, that we have what we have when we have based on where that media or industry is at at the time.
Sometimes something is as good as it can be, because hey it is 1997, or hey its 2025 (throw to 2045 and be bagging Badlands or wateva).
Sometimes things cannot age as well as they do in our memories, doesnt mean they were not great at the time.
Anyway, tangent in play here. This new movie whilst i really enjoyed it, really tore down alot of the mystique of Predator. The original had not alot of actual Predator sighting directly, not alot of backstory, and real tension based on WTF is this ! Badlands sees one Predator or ‘Yautja’ completely abandon his culture and name, family, history as easily as choosing a new hat for the day.
Im probably defending a childhood fave like we do. I just wish the Predator kept his ruthlessness and self reliance in tact.
I loved the movie, it suggests more to come too. The one thing they need to 100% remove is the comedy, a couple of completely unnecessary miniscule attempts at comedy are really not meant to be in a movie like this, it takes away from the type of movie it is trying to be. Atleast Dek offered absolutely nada smirks or acknowledgement at the jibes.
I’ve yet to watch it myself, but I’ve seen those sentiments from quite a few others. The trailers and what I’ve read about it put me off heading to the cinema to see it opening week, but the consensus seems to be that it’s good fun, regardless, so will probably try and catch it this weekend.
This is on Netflix and I thought it was a beautiful movie. It’s a drama, there’s barely any action,but plenty of emotion. Heavy RDR2 vibes, not RDR1 setting wise. Highly recommend if you don’t mind a slow burner.
Pluribus is slowly losing me, all the obvious questions and more that u would have if in this situation are not being asked. Nothing is happening and i fear it will descend into a spiral where nothing is revealed at all.
Extremely intruiging concept, but have they dropped it at the goal line already…

I’ve watched Zootopia for the second time, first time was back when it released. I forgot how much I love this movie, so damn funny too. Plan is to go see 2 tomorrow.
A few episodes before the finale is hardly what you can label as “the goal line.” Also, it’s certainly not losing me yet. I’m loving what they’ve doing and love how unpredictable it is. But we still love you Trevor, maybe you just need some space from the show right now…
Semantics, goal line, half way line… u know what i meant. Its just disappointing to me if this is yet another all questions and no reveal series. If u were in this scenario u would 100% be asking them some basic questions about wtf is going on… as opposed to just protecting a grave and making sure the lights are on.
Truly well written story, plenty of new and loveable and absolutely hilarious characters/animals and definitely on par with the first one, if not even a bit funnier because I laughed my ass off at plenty scènes
Next to all the crap Disney sadly manages to release there’s also gems like these.
