Playstation is making a new subscription service, codenamed Spartacus, merging PS PLUS and NOW. First Party Games not expected to be Day One

The only effect this should have on Xbox is perhaps picking up the pace of acquisitions to secure content with a big enough first party organisation to support the service on its own.

This is the way.

btw it’s their birthday today

yeah that why i said ā€œxbox needs to bring content fastā€ that will be either by Acquiring studios or just throw shit ton of money on XGSP to make deals.

huh? A separate launcher?

I and others like spawn wave speculated about this and it makes a lot of sense sony wouldn’t have to give a cut to valve/epic for each copy sold

I love that console guys are usuallly trying to give an opinion on a pc launcher. lol

None of these folks are going to touch that launcher.

Good luck with that, moreover Sony catalogue on pc is very tiny, I don’t think it warrants a full launcher (there are less than 10 Sony games with native pc port).

Anyway this move imo is going to merge Plus and Now, mostly because Now is dead in the water after GP took the lion’s share.

I wonder what this will do to ā€œThe Launcher Warsā€ which are so stupid that it makes the ā€œConsole Warā€ look sane in comparison.

Yeah, Steam cultists are the biggest offenders in this war, anything not on Steam is a crime against God for them, lol.

PC always has to be just a little bit worse than everyone else haha. ā€œMaster raceā€ lol

i expect day 1 games from sony with release refreshed PS5 and PS5D for $400 and $300

Anyway these pc-Sony moves are the biggest wins for…MS, as of now everyone port their games on Windows, Mac and Linux are mostly dead for gaming outside the emulated stuff through SteamOS (less than 1% of the overall).

A clickbait title from Schreier? Not surprised at all!

Not really worth it if new games aren’t day one. PS1/PS2/PSP games will probably be streaming as well.

I guess that PS Now rebranding they did a few years ago didn’t work out too well, I saw ads on TV when that was announced.

This going to be fun watching brazilian sony fanboys change their narrative.

first they would say xbox gamepass was ā€œmendigo passā€, something like homeless pass or beggar pass, then they said gamepass only get 50- metacritic games.

I need to see what narrative they will say now about sony service lol.

probably now they will say these services make games more valuable.

I have to admit. I was frustrated with YouTubers last year when PS announced their price tag. They said it’s a shame but their exclusive is top quality, so of course I’ll get it. Thanks for making Nintendo and Xbox look third rate. I hope Xbox keeps the price tag well into 2025 with nothing but top quality, so I want to see if the narrative remains. It was insulting. The pedestal needs to stop.

Also, I remember vividly on their reactions on the price hike. NBA 2K did it first and everyone was mad. PS did it, the mood changed. Unbelievable.

dude, when sony Brazil raised the price of 5 years old games like the last of us I or uncharted 4, sony brazil said they needed to rise the price of the games to deliver high quality game for their fans, and most brazilian youtubers and even some gaming journalits from IGN Brazil, TheEnemy, etc said it was ok for the price rise because sony exclusives are top quality.

a week after that, sony raised the price of the ps+ in brazil ( we dont have psnow)

Been saying it for it ages. The way people talk about Sony First party you would be mistaken to think the games are holy objects or something lol.

Why is BC suddenly an amazing thing now

It offers access to a library of games for a subscription cost. That’s a GP competitor right there. The details (i.e. feature set, library on offer, etc) are what makes this sound like a relatively weak competitor tho.
