Rumors and Speculation: Next Generation Consoles for Xbox and Sony

I actually really dig the Series X look even though the black Series S is quite the looker, and the silent operation is really not talked enough about. These are really well designed systems, and even though Sony was able to squeeze a decent amount of power out of their hardware for the price, at the end of the day their product is huge, noisy and not as refined as what MS designed.

Switch 2 is similar to Switch 1, but bigger and better looking. I think MS has their design language with Series S and X, with the S being very similar to Xbox One S and One X. I think they should keep going in that direction.

LEDs are fine, but they gotta have the option to turn them off or change the color from the OS.

Based on Chiplet design of 22 CUs. 2 disabled per Chiplet.

X2 Pro will have better yield Chiplets to get 84 CUs from 4 Chiplets

Lpddr6 VRAM is important from battery point of view in H and S2 variants.

Gonna have to update the CUs counts for the consoles due to new leaks. Magnus should be 72/80.

Just leaks and that too rumor claims. And mine are just fun little speculation.

But for record.

Let’s change the base chiplet to 26-28CU. This will give 72 to 80 CU for Series X2.

I am more interested in Series S2 Series X2Pro like device.

Seems like it’s all over, latest MLID leak says PS6 will be as powerful as an RTX 5090. Can’t believe Microsoft will be twice the price if PS6 is equivalent RTX 5090 and surely matches Xbox Magnus. MS has to raise the white flag and call it quits. I’ll be buying a PS6 at launch, I’m leaving the Xbox camp for good.

This is a joke right?

In case it’s not and you’ve missed the years’ worth of evidence to prove MLID doesn’t have a fucking clue… there’s an almanac of evidence of the dude being wrong and making shit up for literal years, then attempting to delete the evidence when he’s proven wrong…

Yeah dude sucks.

The truth is that….the PS6 will be as powerful as TWO 5090s! Trust me bro!

Yeah, that’s why I had the blurred /s at the end of my post lol

Dude apparently has an upcoming video specifically about Magnus. Guess it’s a good time for him with next gen coming soonish as he gets more clicks. Maybe Magnus is equivalent to an upcoming RTX 6090, you never know!

I was multiplatform until last gen, but been mostly Xbox maining since the 360 era. Love this ecosystem too much, will be using it until the end!

Let’s say we forget all of the numbers though in terms of CPUs and CUs for the GPU and RAM bandwidth, etc. If we just go with the number that PS6 is baseline and next Xbox is 25% more powerful.

1- Is Xbox 25% more expensive than PS6?

2- Is that extra horsepower noticeable or are companies mostly aiming for PS6 development and XBox still gets the short end of the stick?

3- Is that extra horsepower to make up for the fact it needs to support all PC games?

4- Is that extra 25% only for the high end trim? Isn’t Magnus supposed to be somewhat scalable? And wouldn’t that mean we might have a Xbox (first or 3rd party) at the exact same power level as PS6 and even less powerful?

5- Where is the Xbox handheld and how will it compare to PS6 handheld?

So rising prices in the US, less presence on store shelves around the world recently with big gaming chains like Costco and EBGames removing all stock or liquidating even in english regions where I assume product was moving ‘‘ok’’ quantites. Is this a sign next gen is closer than we think? Does MS start more of a push towards PC and focuses more on ROG Ally in the interim for faster Xbox PC adoption? Not wanting to overstock on items could be a sign of things to come.

I remember Jez saying there could be a desktop PC that is Xbox branded coming out next year. I wonder if that will also be pushed harder for the time being.

Or it could just be MS pushing for less retail presence considering retail might be less important than before. But considering console gamers on average are older and more prone to going to physical stores (at least I think even though I don’t personally), I think this could be a chicken and egg scenario where MS is again way ahead and again, very US centric on how they are adjusting worldwide but if next gen isn’t as close as we think, in the short term it will definitely hurt their sales, unless cloud really does pick up in the meantime. Maybe GTA6 is Day 1 cloud enabled and xCloud comes out of beta and brings a huge boost to the userbase, who knows!

What if new hardware actually shows up in the cloud before it does at retail? Push the new hardware in datacenters and already have new games running on it with better cloud streaming tech (could make sense considering we are hearing cloud growth is apparently really good) and then drop the news as you announce the new systems!

The word is that that the next Xbox will also be made by OEMs. If there are 5 companies making “Xbox” consoles, there is no singular retail presence that encompasses that.

Xbox users are already almost entirely digital game buyers so it is a natural move. Steam’s retail presence is nothing more than gift cards and they are doing just fine.
