My guess is whomever checks cert reqs ignores anything beyond those bare bones requirements. And understandably so if that isn’t their role/job. I’d def agree that there should be a limit to how buggy a game is, though that is tough to quantify. Performance metrics should be used though. Not sure exactly what should be done, but something should.
it probably was not officially reported, but these people are not robots, word would have reached someone in management position, even if it was just via a casual conversation, the technical issues are that bad on base consoles.
My issue really is just Sony’s press statement as it is PR rubbish and rubbed me a bit the wrong way. These platform holder don’t necessarily need to do anything if they just state it is up to the publisher to ensure their games are up to snuff. It is just when they try and state they want to ensure a high customer satisfaction then they should do something about it then before it reaches this stage.
Forget timed exclusives, timed multiplatform is the future!!!
Yeah I think they are tryna do the right thing here, but in doing so they justify it with comments that then beg to be applied to other games that didn’t work at launch in the past either.
They are, but of course had to be forced to by the public outrage and is also decent for PR. Your point is also true about this is not exactly the first game to release in a mess, so why now all of a sudden and why not ensure it sooner.
Hopefully, although not holding my breath, this causes publishers to take stock and think twice before releasing such an unfinished product. One of my big pet peeves is the increasing practice of ship now and fix later when we all should expect a finished product for our soon to be standard $70 purchase.
I am hoping it forces Sony to have an actual refund policy in place in the near future. That and pubs need to do a better job of optimizing. The other thing that kinda sucks is that CDPR might be able to have an XSX/XSS version independent of the X1 sku possibly, but PS5 has no such possibility I think. I know ppl are saying CDPR should have delayed, and I agree, but that also brings on huge PR problems as then it’d likely still have the XSX/XSS version and suddenly it would set a narrative of MS paying for the game to be XSX-only and screwing over current gen owners (who wouldn’t likely know that it was delayed due to horrid performance).
A subscription service is the solution for all these unfinished game releases.
The studio (or the group of studios) won’t have to focus on the launch of the game but just to make sure that gamers are subbed continuously.
Insane that Sony is depriving people of playing this game on PS5 when it runs fine on it.
I think big changes will come from this situation. CD Projekt thought they were too big, they were too well-loved, they were invincible, people would get mad for a day but then forgive the game and wait for it to get good later like they did with Fallout 76.
If CD Projekt freaking Red can fall so far that their game is delisted on PSN a week after release, no other company will feel safe releasing a game that’s less than solid. As well they shouldn’t.
I personally never understood where this cd projekt red ultra love and goodwill came from.
Over the course of the Witcher trilogy they built up a reputation for creating excellent games & giving real value for money. They also talked about being “pro consumer” as their profile was on the rise, in the years leading up to Cyberpunk.
Sometimes I don’t understand how some people…work…just…how Sway?
Do you know “Dumb & Dumber” ?
No! That has to be a joke
!? No one could honestly be that dumb to think that.
I’m not surprised at all, some variation of this happens all the time.
Customer: “I was supposed to get (item) delivered to me on Monday but it didn’t arrive till Tuesday, I want you to give me my money back”
Store: Oh you want to return the item? No problem…
Customer: “No I just want my money back, you said it would be here Monday and it wasn’t so you should give me my money back”
Store: “Uh…”
Might be them conflating things with “your pizza will arrive in 30 minutes or it’s free”
I worked retail so I’ve seen some things. Since it’s the holiday season people will be buying their Christmas trees and decorations and promptly returning them in January. That was always fun a time…
Just to remind everyone, this was the Best Playstation Game of 2020 as awarded at the 2020 Gamecom show. It also won Best of Show award too. Now if this doesn’t show you how far off the mark awards are, then I don’t know what will.
Man are gaming media extremely obsessive to write an article of someone liking tweets
