Read my mod message. If GP subs still increased after the Halo delay, I don’t see why this would be any different.
Agreed. In terms of post-launch support, there’s no reason to be concerned at all for fans of those games.
I just don’t want to hear Nintendo’s release cadence brought up. There is the aforementioned reality that they are 5 years into the systems life, but there is also the reality that Nintendo isn’t making games at this scale or scope. Most Switch games feel like shined up GameCube games.
That isn’t an indictment of their quality, Nintendo is still unique and the quality is high, but Luigi’s Mansion and Kirby don’t hold a candle to the depth and complexity of modern AAA games.
after the Halo delay, they had a new console and a very strong marketing campaign, I remember Xbox announced something every two weeks in 2020 until the 2021 showcase which after they went cold.
as I said in another reply, only a strong showcase with strong GamePass Day One release promises can rectify this. those who really cared about Deathloop or AE4 would have already played them on PC.
… or the sub will keep increase thanks to some of the new Series consoles buyers who also joining Gamepass. especially Series S ones.
That is what is most likely to happen in the upcoming showcase.
However, I think you are underestimating (atleast slightly) the amount of people that are waiting to play AoE4 and Deathloop on Xbox.
That is also what MS is doing. And it worked great for them last year. Ppl moan in the first half of the year and understandably so, but then they forget that ever happened in back half when we get a bunch of great games. No Starfield is a gargantuan blow to Xbox as a brand this holiday and its lineup. We will fortunately still have a good amount of great stuff to play even without it imho.
Right now MS has the same issue they had in 2020 where they put too much focus for their lineup on a single huge title when it clearly wasn’t ready (Halo/Starfield). But in 2023 we will have the spigot fully opened up and be drinking from the firehose (even ignoring Starfield’s presence, which now just makes 2023 even better in isolation). MS just has to get to 2023 and I think they will be in great shape from there and will be able to massage their lineup/roadmap real easily with so many projects hitting thereafter. Their issue then will be figuring out how to best leverage all those games and not have them eat into each other’s limelight.
gamepass subs aren’t falling if forza motosport and grounded come out this year lol.
Game Pass is gonna be fine, especially if they launch their Family Plan as well.
If I get Goldeneye, Ill be fine.
Nick, is that you?
How long ago was that announcement, again?
Can’t believe people actually care for that game. Conker on the other hand would be ace
Forza Motorsport and Grounded against Starfield…

That’s not how most of this works; most console gamers don’t have high-end PCs for gaming… hell, most PC gamers don’t have mid-to-high-end PCs. Knowing the amount that games sell on console whilst also being on PC, it’s a pretty erroneous take.
it’s almost a year and a half since that now.
I cant believe anyone has a need to bring up their dismay about what other people like.
Grounded Reaches 10 Million Players and Goes Into the Wood with New Update - Xbox Wire
Never compared the game to Starfield, but the game definitely will have a strong draw to the service.
It would be better if at least Todd announced a delay (like Cory did for GoW as far as I recall) himself or maybe they could throw in a couple of images or a simple video…But well ![]()
I can kinda understand your point when it comes to Deathloop.
but I highly suspect AE4 on Xbox will be another Flight Simulator, Social Media Fans will play it for a day, take some videos and then drop it forever.
anyway, waiting a whole year for two games that aren’t even new, is not why most people subscribed to game pass. might call it PS Plus at that point.
on the positive side, I see this pressuring them not to increase the price of game pass or disable the discount tricks (like stacking gold).
This is something people don’t bring to the table as much as it did. Smaller games did 2020 a very decent year for Xbox and they could fill the gap with products with smaller scope but fast to develop.
