The Game Awards 2022 | OT?

Stray does seem an odd fit, especially considering it’s not even the best “independent” game out there, nowhere near that in my opinion. Hopefully the entire year is looked at holistically and recency bias doesn’t rear its ugly head in any of the categories

Stray was very popular upon the released + PS exclusive + has a cat (with nice graphics).

Grounded- no nominations. At all.

The Stray nominations are such a joke

Ok? Not sure if you’re joking?

Wonder what trailers we will get this year?

Might need to tune in to Jez and chopped liver to get an idea of what MS will bring.

Starfield, Redfall, Perfect Dark, Hellblade 2, Indiana Jones.

One of these is a safe bet imo.

It is what it is, but I think there needs to be some revisions or cutoff date of the show if he wants to position this as the Oscar of video games. Anyways, I got the disappointment out of my system and will mainly watch for announcements

IMO Xeno 3 is there as an “apology” for snubbing Xeno games from basically all categories in all the recent years. Game Awards twitter would always be flooded with angry Xeno fans. It doesn’t “make sense” but whatever, these awards are nonsensical. It’s not my GOTY either, of the selection they chose I choose Elden Ring.

I wouldn’t like seeing Hellblade 2 at TGA again, think showing it at the same show two years in a row is a bit boring.

The could show Starfield, but I think most fans want and extended gameplay segment at this point and TGA is not a good avenue for long trailers. Same goes for Redfall imo.

Indiana Jones is a good shout.

agree. and it’s a good game. a good indie. :cat2:

Hopefully PlayGround can get a long overdue “apology” with Horizon 6 and/or Fable.

Tinykin not getting nominated for Family Game is a shocking snub. Utterly wonderful game from start to finish. How Sparks of Hope made it I don’t know.

There needs to be a change in categories. Like genuinely God of War, Elden Ring and shit getting in on almost every category is just hilarious.

They need to move away from genres and more into technical stuff, like actual award shows. Best animation, best innovation in gameplay, focus on that, not the made up genres. Like, we don’t have best action movie, best blockbuster, best super hero film, best connected universe series of films… For a reason.

So apparently TLOU Remake is nominated for something with innovation.

Could be due to accessibility because I remember reading it had a lot of great accessibility features.

All mainstream award shows are bullshit anyway :man_shrugging:

Can’t say recency bias simply because 2015/2016/2017/2018/2019/2020/2021 all had the game of the year released in the first half of their respective year.

My money is on Perfect Dark and Redfall both being shown. Not expecting the other three at all.

PD? I don’t see that happening, I hope Avowed, it’s time! Redfall doesn’t necessarily have to be there for me.

To be clear I’m not expecting all, just at least one of them

It’s been two years since the Perfect Dark reveal. I believe they show a gameplay teaser trailer. Not long, like a minute but to just be like, yeah, we brought in Crystal Dynamics but good progress is being made.

Redfall because im expecting a trailer along with a release date of late February/early March. I’m hoping for early March.

Would love to FINALLY see Avowed gameplay but I think it gets held until June.

Haha. I know.
