The Outer Worlds 2 | Review

The funny part is that Avowed actually does have romance with Löwyn and Kai, it’s just the Kai romance doesn’t have any impact.

While the Löwyn romance is a tragedy.

I think it’s fun, and it adds another layer to the characters and often to group dynamics etc. I also enjoy the tensions, the flirting and how it just feels more real. It doesn’t have to be a deep, profound love saga to add something to the game.

I think Cyberpunk 2077 did romance the best, because everyone isn’t protagsexual.

I agree with this. Generally, characters feel more authored and “real” when they have specific traits/histories/preferences rather than just mirroring and conforming to what the player wants.

For sure, it’s amazing when done right . I liked how mass effect 2 did it. Like in mass effect your squad can hate you and romance options didn’t feel too force like how certain games do it these days. I think when done right it’s a very good system because does create better memories about the game .

I think for obsidian , maybe not having the option makes characters less memorable for some because I noticed with other RPGs support characters are more memorable than obsidian support characters. I truly think the lack of relationships might be the reason why

Nailed it. That’s my issue with some games . It’s okay if some characters aren’t romantically interested in the character . I think it would be cooler in games if there’s a system that punishes your character for certain decisions . Like character x should never want to befriend or be interested in you if you did certain actions

It’s not because he game doesn’t have romance or whatever Xbox is going through as a business. It’s because grifters online have spent the last five years trashing the Outer Worlds and tarnishing the franchise’s reputation.

18 or so hours in. Playing on the xbox ally x. I think its a good Xbox ally x game because its very vanilla.

Nothing really amazed me so far at the same time there is just enough to keep you engaged

So far it is inferior to Part 1 for me in terms of choices, world, characters and companions. I liked the first part because it was lot more relatable in terms of the state of the world, companions were more endearing and dialogue is less biblical and convoluted. I also loved in the first part the choice I made in the first planet and the outcome was crazy.

this keeping in the good books of factions like in star wars outlaws is not working for me. The humor and the tone shown in the trailers also did not come across well in the game and so far its once again just fine/bland

I like the traits, how certain traits can do things differently, I enjoy the companions on missions and playing on hard, they help and I did not find that they die as often as people complained.

The first island was perfect size but the choice at the end felt anti climactic but may be it will play a big role in the end. The second island is intriguing and pretty but its barren and purposely stretched out with large barren empty spaces.

Neat!

So I’m doing Niles second mission and I on a whim decided to kill Zeb, found out that if we do kill him, Niles goes hostile and we have to kill him.

The Simplifier is a sniper rifle that’s pretty much DF 500x zoom and I love it!

While not related, appropiate.

Edit: Well, that kind of sucked, I have a had a need to kill the Moon Man every time he opens his stupid mouth and when I finally get an opportunity Obsidian made it so Inez for whatever reason considers him a co-worker even when he wasn’t with Auntie’s Choice. Now I likely will have to let him live and see what he wants, that sucks. Going to send Inez to the ship and kill him once I finish his quest.

That felt good, botched the mission but worth it.

Edit: So, it just occurred to me that the best armor in the game, imo at least, is pay to win.

Edit: I know what I did can be consider incredibly bad and the result is as expected if I got caught, but I was kind of hoping I could get away with it because I was hidden.

Edit; Pretty much almost done, right now I’m going through a couple of quest before reaching the point of no return. I already got a bit of a preview of what will happen from my current save, but man it feels like my other choice is going to be just as bad.

But that’s my fault for trusting anyone at their word in this game. Or thinking that I had any bargaining power to throw around. I guess I could always go back to that one save I keep making before what I feel are large decisions. But might as well go ahead, finish the game and restart from the beginning.

Edit: Well back on the save and will change things up because yeah, it was still a bad choice for me.

Edit: One thing that I think The Outer Worlds 2 needs, is clothing/armor that give temporary Skill points while wearing it.

Edit: After many restarts because of choices locking me out of something I wanted, I have finally finished The Outer Worlds 2 and it’s definitely my game of the year. I’m itching to get back into it and do things differently, but I know I need to put time into other games especially since my play time was 6 days and 3 hours.

Got to the last planet and stopped playing for now. Will wait till the dlc release. Really like skills mattering, don’t like the character progress at all. Loot feels as unrewarding as the first game and the perks are all a bit boring.

I think it depends on what your going for,

Summary

I put together a disgusting TTD Meele build with the Wham bam and the Patient Step outfit/armor.

It wasn’t well optimized, but the wave that did 50% damage to enemies in cone, the wham bam being a shotgun hammer meant every attack was worth 3 and the build up of burning damage. For that extra proc damage 4th hit, really added up.

The Pateint Step suit/armor, reducing the use of energy and making it so only attacks used energy made me feel like a speedster in a slowno scene.
