Oh god, AT&T buying WB really put us on the wrong timeline. That right there is what I’m going to tell me grandkids to use their time machine and change… AWW Man! It hasn’t already been changed. Must be new timeline creation rules
.
Seriously, who is interested in buying WBDiscovery? There’s so much baggage and debt there and they haven’t proved very valuable recently. Sure their IP is insane in terms of value, but is it worth it? Whomever buys them will essentially have to turn the company upside down and we know that’ll lead to a lot of good talent getting fired. WB Games is already an empty husk, DC comics is actually doing great right now, but for their movies and Television it’s like… yeah they’re big but also if they’re so big why are they STILL struggling this much to stay afloat??
It’s also a crazy purchase. Anyone already in the industry that can really benefit can and SHOULD be barred for purchasing a direct competitor and like one of the biggest. AT&T had to face a lot of scrutiny over JUST buying WB and they weren’t even really in the entertainment industry or a competitor. Now it’s WBDiscovery. And every one else would be buying into an industry they don’t really understand or have a footing in with a LOT of baggage that’s proven questionable. Also very few companies can even afford WBDiscovery even though it’s lost a lot of value its still a behemoth and it still has a massive debt. Whomever buys them would be buying a lot of deadweight and possibly taking on more debt to do so, which is why we’re even in this mess to begin with (AT&T taking on debt to buy WB and then not knowing how to make a profit with them). Once upon a time I’d Microsoft should buy them to build a strong foothold in entertainment and maximize the value of all the IP (they could make DC comics for their gaming IP and TV and movies and turn WB IP into games with their studios), but nah. Microsoft is having enough growing pains trying to steer its massive horse post ABK. They really just don’t need to add WB on top of that. More importantly WB is just such a mess to deal with. Like they NEED a lot of upper management fired and replaced and a massive shift in company culture.
Perhaps Netflix should buy them or have them split between companies.
