"We are absolutely committed to having launch exclusives on Xbox" says Matt Booty

Case by case is the direction. If it bothers you go to another platform. Xbox users will need to get used to some games going multi plat. If you are an Xbox gamer this doesn’t impact you, your still getting the games

This thread has lole 20 replies. People have been almost desensitized and would rather focus on collection games not making it to Xbox at this point.

The best anyone can do is enjoy the games that are coming and make a decision with more information when it’s time to. I think most have accepted that.

I certainly did. I think Xbox has something here. But if they want their userbase they better not fumble the bag by porting a series that is a flagship. Cause that will cause dissatisfaction with the hardware users like never seen before, i would even say it would be way worse then what it is now.

But i wil buy and play games as i like. Same as usual. Although i do wish Xbox makes all third party titles be play anywhere, cause that would be a win that no thinks of happening but we seeing it with Sega, EA, Capcom and now Square Enix.

“launch exclusives” is just a way to not commit to things staying exclusive forever because why would they at this point? It’s just corpo talk and not really an indicator, it’s about not committing to anything but making people think you are saying something signficant.

You have point, but it would be wise to halt some stuff to go to the other side until Sony does it too.I know impossible, but i fell like they should be the ones to do it first instead of the usual Xbox and something tells me they will because of a number of things, especially their old mindset will not work on this day and age.

However i do have to point out that they did make a commitment to the hardware and they at least understand there is value in exclusives. It kinda how Netflix and Max has exclusives, so there is that.

It’s business on so many levels. The industry right now is in turmoil and they’re doing what they can to stay ahead nothing is final. Some of these moves are calculated to appease regulators. I won’t be surprised if they change their minds again as porting games isn’t cheap and if they aren’t seeing the returns it would be a waste.

There won’t be any more definitive statement than “On Case-by-Case basis” because, should anything change in the future, a concrete statement , no matter how much true it would be at the time of stating it, would be considered a lie by the public.

I guess it’ll be a mix of day 1 multiplatform games from ABK and Bethesda, specially from known franchises, and temporal exclusives from most or all games from XGS.

I think they should have gone either full day 1 multiplatform or full exclusive for the next years, as this strategy isn’t going to help saving Xbox console sales nor will it help growing the XGS game franchises that much.

At this point im just more curious than anything else, when will be the next batch of games being ported announced, what are MS’s plans hardware wise for 2026 and forward, etc.
