Started Lies of P earlier today. Playing on very easy difficulty since that’s the only way that I will get through the game. Currently 1/3rd of the way through the game. Have died twice thus far. Once on the boss that deals with electricity and then again, later on when a stronger enemy came barging through a wall and I got trapped with him and two other enemies with no health potions left.
Overall, game is really good which I already knew since I did play through the demo years ago but couldn’t beat that boss that I mentioned above. Visually, looks great and definitely gives me Bloodborne vibes (played for about 10 hours a long ass time ago) which is good thing. Audio is really good even though the lip syncing is off. Story and characters seem solid thus far. Combat and gameplay is where the game shines as it’s so fluid and responsive. Being able to adjust this under the controller setting makes it even better. Also being able to change the button configuration adds another plus for me.
Have work the next two days and will be watching SummerSlam night one and night two on Sunday so won’t be playing again until Monday afternoon. But looking forward to getting back to the game as playing for just over 5 hours, I didn’t want to stop playing.
I’m playing Red Dead Online and Destiny 1 at the moment.
RDO is a bit empty but fun to explore, find treasures and hunt. I get why it’s not as popular as GTA Online though. The economy is just forcing you to do tedious work and stuff that most people would ignore in the base game.
It has also been fun to go back to Destiny 1. I’ve just stopped playing a long time ago and never played the DLC campaigns (I was just exhausted by the base game) and man, what did I miss ! It’s really cool to unlock achievements 10 years after. And there’s still a lot of people playing, it’s crazy.
Funny you talk about Destiny 1, as I have played through most of the content myself, but I was indeed thinking about it recently and if it was dead or not. I might reinstall it just for a few nights of reminiscing.
As for me, Grounded 2 is taking most of my time right now and I just finished Wheel World yesterday. Great game, a little under 5 hours and I’ve done all of the races 100% completion and at this point would need a guide to get all of the jumps and lone wolves so I don’t know if I’ll really bother or not. But the game has beautiful art style and the soundtrack really surprised me. These games are the reason I keep my Gamepass; I’d just miss too many gems like this one.
Finished the main campaign in THPS3+4, now to decide if I go for the pro objectives.
He Is Coming is also another game I play on PC that is really addictive. It’s in preview I think and only on PC but it’s so much fun! Rogue like 2D pixelated game, looks basic on the surface but has much deeper itemization than anticipated. Lots of builds you can do, I definitely recommend it!
Completed Lies of P base game. Outside of that one fight near the end that was a total pain the ass, the rest of the game was a decent challenge and I did die at times even on basic enemies but nowhere near the level of aggravation and frustration of that one boss near the end.
Visuals - 8.5/10 (great)
Audio - 8.0/10 (great)
Gameplay/Combat - 9.0/10 (excellent)
Story/Characters - 8.5/10 (great)
Overall - 8.5/10 (great)
I thought everything was great in Lies of P. No major negatives or complaints outside of the camera during that one main boss fight near the end of the game. Looked great and loved the environments and locations. Character models were good as were the enemy designs. Boss fights were great for the most part. Music was really good as were the sound effects and the voice acting. Story and characters were great and I really enjoyed it all from beginning to end. Combat and gameplay was the standout though. Just felt great to play. Fluid and responsive. Very happy that I was able to change the buttons for attacking from RB/RT to X/Y as I hate using the shoulder/trigger buttons for melee combat games. Will definitely be buying the Overture expansion at some point and looking forward to the sequel as the ending definitely sets it up.
In general, Lies of P was the fourth “souls” type game that I have ever completed. Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, Star Wars: Jedi Survivor and Steel Rising were the first three. Lies of P would be 4th on the list but tied rating wise with Steel Rising. Lies of P is the better game but I prefer Steel Rising more. I didn’t use any grenades or cranks or any of this other stuff in Lies of P. I stuck with the balanced weapon for the entire game and upgraded it to it’s maximum level. Did the same with the Axe type weapon that comes with the game or at least I got the weapon and a bunch of costumers when I first played the game. Some cool stuff in the game like the platforming, minor puzzles and obstacles you have to watch out for. Overall, great game. Really enjoyed it.
Received Mafia: The Old Country today from Best Buy. Currently installing the disc and will setup the game later tonight but won’t start it until Tuesday since I work the next two days.
Just finished Echoes of Wisdom. Well-made game, however, not having a sword as your main weapon really killed it for me. Some people will love the game loop, but I was left wanting traditional Zelda 2d weapon combat.
Forza Horizon - When 5 came out, I tried it but was a little overwhelmed with the structure and dropped it. About two months ago I had the bright idea to try 1 assuming the objectives would be a little simpler. What a game. Loved everything about it. Difficulty is tuned perfectly for me. Not too hard, not too easy. 5/5 for me. I have now moved onto 2 and am about halfway through. Great games to just pick at and play a couple races if you not in the mood for anything serious. The plan is to play through the entire series this way. Wonder how long that will take…
Got some more games before that big sale ended. I picked up Dynasty Warriors Origins, Atelier Yumia and Wild Hearts. They’re all I’ve been playing the last few days.
After seeing the player dropoff of Monster Hunter Wilds on Steam, and the reports of many long cutscenes and easier difficulty, I am pleased with my decision to get Wild Hearts as an alternative. The artwork is beautiful, and I don’t mind the fortnite like building. The gameplay/combat and world are an improvement on the last hunting games by Omega Force, Toukiden.
I played Atelier Ryza and Sophie but they never really clicked with me. Yumia finally did, probably because it’s more accessible - the open world has interesting landmarks and locations, the crafting/synthesis is easier and the game in general is easier (even on normal). That’s not a bad thing though, not every game needs Master Ninja difficulty, and the difficulty suites this game.
Dynasty Warriors Origins is easily the best gameplay this series has seen.
I have enough rewards points for a “free” $15 so I’ll put that towards Ninja Gaiden Ragebound.
Dropped Kotor 2 for now, made decent progress, but hate how the game has random equipments. Haven’t gotten any decent loot for a while now
Nearly finished my playthrough of P5 Royal, basically finishwd the base game and just started the januari Royal content for the first time.
Also playing some strategy game on the side. Doing some EU4 achievement runs and playing Civ 5 again (waiting for Civ 7 to get some more content before purchasing it, personally dislike Civ 6.)
I started The Bioshock Collection after buying it on sale some time ago. I’m going to play them in chronological order. The first one is good so far, very unique setting and themes with inventive combat and RPG elements. Andrew Ryan is a fascinating character.
I started Anthem about a week ago, am absolutely loving my time with it. I wish it had gotten more love, and that it wasn’t pitched the way it was, it has some good story to it though. And the thing that happened to Matthias (one of the quest givers) was pretty amusing, don’t think I’ve seen something like that before.
Also has some amazing movement, it’s very responsive.
One of the only Rockstar games Ive never played. So far ive enjoyed it quite a bit. Obviously it is of its time, so it more akin to the GTA’s of its era than the more modern rockstar games.
Just beat Wuchng Fallen Feathers, it’s a great soulslike!
I played through the game twice, causality 1 and 2, to get the good ending or one of the good endings. The first time around I missed several things: bosses, items, npc questlines. But after picking up an item I didn’t in the my first playthrough, I was able to get several NPC to the end game so that I could get the necessary items to change the ending.
I thought the game looks great, even if FSR is still messy every so often, the performance was mostly good with only some stutter happening during exploration (I think the DF video on it says the reason for it the autosave), which thankfully never happened during boss fights.
The axe has got to be the best weapon in the game, if only because of a skill that allows you to restore your health on hit. Combined with the amulet that restores more health and using one of the axe’s that can use the health on hit temper, the amount of health that we get back makes saving heals for later in the fight a breeze.
I just completed Mafia: The Old Country on Xbox Series X. Normal difficulty. Completion time was approximately 15 hours for the story campaign. Graphically, the game looked excellent with a beautiful locale, character models and environments. Voice acting is also excellent as is the music and sound effects. Story and characters is great overall. Would have scored an extra half a point but there’s a few things near/at the end of the game that I wasn’t a fan of but won’t mention any of it since I don’t want to spoil any of it. Good mission/objective variety throughout all the chapters, great characters that were well written and a good overall story and premise.
Gameplay/combat though was the weakest aspect of the game by far. Movement is fine but the pure gameplay is just old, outdated and obsolete in my opinion. Stealth is basic and generic. Gunplay feels bad because you’ll miss so many shots and even though that could be due to me having all the aim assist options off, the shooting just doesn’t feel good. Not a fan of equipping weapons but then lose them when going into the next chapter. While it didn’t happen all the time, I had several chapters where I should have my better handgun and shotgun equipped but nope, you’re stuck with the default weapons the game gives you for that chapter. The cover system is fine but going from to cover to cover is a huge pain in the ass because it has to be leveled with where you’re at. The knife fights might have been the best part of the combat. Granted, once you get it “down”, it’s not difficult or at least it wasn’t on normal difficulty but it’s the most satisfying aspect of the combat in my opinion. Driving/horse riding was fine but having shootouts while doing so wasn’t good because you simply press down the LB/L1 button to shoot as the reticle will lock on to enemies automatically as you move the camera.
All the chapters are linear. You can search the areas you’re in during the mission for collectibles and whatnot but the main way to get them all is by playing the free roam mode which has to be accessed via the main menu of the game. I didn’t do this a single time because I didn’t care about the collectibles or unlocking all the weapons, cars, etc. but more so because Hangar 13 crafted a beautiful world for the game but to have it separated into it’s own mode was in my opinion a bad design decision. It would have been great to just free roam the world and when you want to start the next chapter, you could have just gone to the NPC that starts the chapter but it’s not like that at all. This honestly also discouraged me from wanting to explore the world in the free roam mode because it doesn’t have the cohesiveness that it should have in my opinion.
Visuals - 9.0/10 (excellent)
Audio - 8.5/10 (great)
Gameplay/Combat - 6.0/10 (above average)
Story/Characters - 8.5/10 (great)
Overall - 8.0/10 (great)
Mafia: The Old Country is a great linear game carried by it’s story, characters, location/time period, graphics and audio. The combat and gameplay leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion but it’s still decent/serviceable enough to play through especially when it’s not the main focal point of the game. I do think that not incorporating the free roaming into the actual main story was a huge misfire in my opinion as it feels completely disjointed to where I didn’t even bother with the free roam mode a single time simply due to the fact that I didn’t care about engaging with it at all.
I felt like playing a shooter so I installed Gears of War Judgment. I hadn’t played a Gears since the original trilogy and I’m happy to say I enjoyed this quite a bit. If you’re dedicated you could probably blow through this in an afternoon, I played on Normal and I think I need to put it on hard next time, it’s not particularly challenging. I want to play Gears 4 & 5 sometime in the future. Now I’m gonna play Warhammer Boltgun. I also played a bit of Doom TDA off gamepass and I intend on buying that one at some point
I bought Potionomincs and it’s exactly the type of game I’ll disappear for weeks in.
I fell in love with rogue like deck builders through the first Monster Train and this game has elements of that. But it’s also a finance game where you’re running a shop and managing resources (including your time) and you can romance characters. It’s a nice chill experience, but also has a “tough to master” feel. Oh, in this same vein I’ve been trying out He is Coming & 9 Kings on PC. Both also fall into the endless loop and strategy like emements.
I finished Gears of War Reloaded a few days ago and had a lot of fun with it. I am still playing/practicing Gunbird 2 (still kicking my ass…), recently bought Andro Dunos 2 (which is great btw) for my shmup fix and tonight I will start Shinobi: AoV. Next in line after Shinobi is the Indy expansion which I can’t wait to go back to!
I have been playing SD Gundam Battle Allience, it’s a basic hack and slash but it also uses stamina in the form of boost during meele. Mobile Suits are categorize into: all rounders, shooters and brawlers(I don’t remember if there was a 4th category).
The story is basically our OC is a Feddie grunt who gets pulled into the G:Universe to experience multiple fights through out the Gundam series, from UC to Wutch from Mercury AC(dlc, I don’t own). Along with the actual main character Juno and the god of the Gundam verse boss Haro.
Overwatch 2 stadium actually made me addicted to competitive play. The round based mode makes it feel a lot faster and less tedious. And those powers are more like what I was looking forward to when they announced PVE and skill trees way back when. Plus it’s been really good for the challenges. I can actually blow through the battle pass without too much trouble.
