Would love to hear some impressions especially if it can be compared to vampire survivors. VS is one of my all timers but then I tried Brotato b/c so highly talked about, but I just didn’t get it at all.
There are only 4 weapon slots vs 8 (so far), so for ‘light-filling-screen-carnage’ is worse. But there’s lots of good stuff there already, am enjoying it.
Still very early into it (like I haven’t gotten through the first mission and keep dying).
It’s not as immediately rewarding as vampire survivors and I haven’t encountered anything like evolutions (which for me weapon evolutions gave me that dopium to keep going). It’s fairly straight forward with upgrade trees, but I don’t know how well things mix and match. Gameplay is what it says (auto shooting) with all guns and grenades so far. You also mine which can be useful for clearing space and avoiding enemies as well as getting materials to buy in between rounds. Each missions has like different levels, I guess. I feel like someone who played Deep Rock Galactic could probably explain it better. Each mission also feels rather long (though I haven’t finished a single one yet). There’s also a rogue-like like universal upgrade tree you’d use after each mission.
It’s been fun so far. And it’s a very small download if you want to try it. I’d say it’s not AS much addicting fun as Vampire Survivors for me personally. But it has that simple gameplay loop where it’s easy to hop in and try again.

Finished Shinobi: AoV about a week ago which was freakin’ awesome, had a ton of fun with it and it’s currently my GOTY. I also played the DLCs for the first The Evil Within which were pretty decent and definitely worth checking out if you are a fan of the series plus I loaded up my NG+ save and finished some levels from the main game and it still holds up amazingly well, sadly the game is not enhanced via BC so it’s stuck in the 900p/30fps limbo. Also bought Earthion yesterday but haven’t played it yet, still practicing Gunbird 2 and Andro Dunos 2 and I feel that I am doing some progress there.
I’ll probably get Cronos next since I am still in the mood for a great horror game. I also got Silksong but I will leave that for the end of the year…too many games lately that I want to play but my budget is strict so I’ll wait for sales to buy the ones that I want.

Have gone back to some old games.
Currently playing Borderlands 2, and trying to finish the game for the first time. I have started and stopped with this game in the past, but I’m planning on playing all the way through.
Also restarted Elden Ring, doing a Greatsword/Colossal sword run bevause I fell into dual weilding dex curve swords with bleed. Because man are they good.
Doing another run of Fallout 4 in Survival mode, my plan is to eventually just punch my way through the world. But until I can get enough armor to survive getting attacked by 4 raiders at once. I plan to use the Laser Musket.

Yup, same over here. Just jumped on it the other night and haven been playing it a few hours every day since. I wouldn’t say I like it as much as Vampire Survivor, but it has a lot going for it with different gear you can equip as well as the dynamics of each map along with the mining aspect. It’s surprisingly well made!

Did a 6 hour long session in Cronos yesterday and this is one hell of a survival horror game. Story is very mysterious and interesting so far but the star of the show IMO is the setting/atmosphere, it’s so bleak, hopeless and oppressive…like fuckin’ hell. Sound design is also impeccable, crystal clear with disturbing soundscapes and a really great Carpenter-like OST…I am playing with headphones and DTS:X and it adds so much to the game.
Gameplay wise it’s also very good with great controls and guns feeling powerful AF, the charged shot mechanic and the whole merge thing with the enemies result in some very cool combat scenarios and strategies since the game is not a walk in the park. I am playing a no upgrades playthrough and things are even more challenging with the very limited inventory space.
I am so impressed by the game, I can’t wait to dive in (huh!) again tonight!

Sinking my teeth into Digimon Story Time Stranger. It was nice to load the demo save file and just jump right in. This is my holy grail for modern features. Also even though it’s not Xbox Play Anywhere, I’m enjoying it in bed on my Legion Go through remote play.
As for the game itself, well I already knew I’d like it because of Cyber Sleuth and this demo. It’s basically a more streamlined version of cyber sleuth, with still some annoyances that didn’t get streamlined here and there (like you can basically carry an infinite or really high number of Digimon, and it is such a pain to transfer them to the farm or comb through them, but thankfully no matter where they are they get a little exp from battles). The last thing I did in the demo was check out the DNA digivolution combined attack skills. That was neat and you can still DNA digivolve as normal.
Surprisingly the only hangup I have is the how much I spent on the ultimate edition. Like I had to pop out for Digimon Story on Xbox (I NEED MORE) but boy does it not feel worth it. Maybe when the dlc comes out. And the dlc special augumon and gabumon are kinda just broken. You get free mega Digimon way, WAY early. I really shouldn’t be using them, but they look so cool. Maybe I’ll switch to hard mode or just keep breezing through until these Digimon become underpowered later in the game as it tends to go for this stuff. Oh and I don’t like that there’s additional dlc for for farming dungeons (not in the ultimate edition). It’s one of two things you can do in the world between worlds (like this theater place with Mirei) and it’s all extra dlc. Hopefully later on in the game non dlc dungeons unlock. I’d love to be able to go through randomized dungeons repeatedly. Would be fun for grinding and late game. Oh and I don’t like the digifarm here compared to Cyber Sleuth and Hacker’s memory. The big spoiler, which is probably obvious, you go back in time in time stranger. Eight whole years. I wonder if I’ll run into “myselves” from the last two games. It happened in Hacker’s memory, but that was a more direct side story. If it does happen then Bandai will need to package a next gen upgraded version Next hardware iteration that bundles all three games and release it as an Xbox Play Anywhere title please and thank you. Also they keep talking about how the present day is involved in a post apocalypse involving a three sided war between two Digimon factions and humans in some type of machines AND THEY WON’T SHOW IT. OH MY GOD I WANT TO BE PLAYING THAT GAME. 0/10 FOR TIME STRANGER BECAUSE THEY TEASE ME WITH A FAR, FAR MORE AWESOME GAME THAT I CAN’T PLAY 
Oh and I forgot how tedious these types of Bandai anime JRPG games can be. So much talking before being able to do anything.
Edit: Oh and you can change the sex of your character (male or female) at any time. That’s pretty dope because the one that’s voice acted is your operator whose the opposite sex character. God I wish there was a reaction from the people I’m with. Like I just pause the game, open settings, and have a complete sex change. There’s serious opportunity here for a fun little meta joke like me having insane cross dressing skills or it being the power of Digimon.
Edit edit: Oh digiline (the messaging in game) is actually useful. You can have mirei continue digifarm training so you don’t have to keep going back and forth. Hopefully there’s some other stuff you can do with it down the line. I thought it was going to be like last game where it’s just an annoying pop-up notification system for useless information.
Okay so not just sex, you can change your name too whenever. Maybe the protagonist is secretly a Q (Star Trek)?

Currently playing Dragon Quest 3 remake and I have to say I really hate some of the mechanics I’m encountering in the game, like enemies being able to desperately attack, while also getting 2 attacks per turn (this one happens so often that it makes fights that wouldn’t be an issue and issue and if they can desperately attack they shouldn’t get 2 turns), the various different health that enemies of the same type can have (it would be more understandable if it only happened when one of the same type of enemy isn’t grouped up, to show it’s different than the rest, but it happens all the time).
But as much as I hate those mechanics the game is fun, and those mechanics keep me on my toes even if they make most strategies kind of worthless pretty quickly.
Edit: Wanted to add, that an enemy just did another very toxic 2 turns in one where they defended to lower the damage they would take and then attack.

Continuing with Cronos and I am in the Abbey right now, still going strong with the no upgrades playthrough though some combat scenarios were literally hell (like the morgue in the Hospital or the no gravity/magnetic boots room in the Steelworks…oh god) but I somehow managed to survive those with enough strategy and of course a bit of luck! The 6 spots inventory is very very limiting and the biggest challenge so far on this playthrough.
To say that I am impressed with the game is an understatement, Bloober made a true survival horror game that mixes old school survival horror genre elements like limited inventory space/resources and good positioning being key/baiting enemy attacks (like the older Resident Evil games) with the more modern stuff like third person camera and impeccable third person shooting/movement controls (seriously the aiming in this game is just perfect on controller with no aim assist). Hopefully the very positive word of mouth surrounding the game continues and the sales of the game see a boost this month around Halloween because the game and Bloober deserve all the success and then some.

No upgrades is super impressive, specifically for that Morgue fight lol.
I agree that it’s an incredible game, definitely the best original survival horror game of the gen. If you’re tired of sequels and want original games, play Cronos.

Update: I managed to beat the game with no upgrades! the Abbey had some brutal fights as well and especially the room where you pick up the “baby” for the church door puzzle was pure chaos…those freakin’ crawlers man…final boss was also a challenging fight mostly because of the big HP pool, the Sculptor’s essence with the increased melee damage helped me on this playthrough a lot since I managed to save ammo in a lot of situations too.
Right now I am on NG+ Hard with upgrades and all and I enjoy the ride as much as the first time because now the lore/story makes so much more sense overall when you experience the game for the second time. And I totally agree with you that the game is incredible, it would’ve been a must play just for the amazing setting/art direction and atmosphere alone for me as I love the genre but it’s a greatly designed game as well and IMO the best game to bring the old school survival horror sensibilities/design into the modern day.
The best 3 games that I’ve played this year are Cronos, DOOM:TDA and Shinobi: AoV (still haven’t played Silksong and Expedition 33) and I loved DOOM and Shinobi so much but since I have a soft spot for the horror genre Cronos is my current GOTY for sure .

Playing Battlefield 6! Only MP for now, but should start the campaign soon. Very good so far, there’s things that need fixing, like map tweaks and such. But a great start.
Also finishing up the achievements in The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice, only got a couple left now.

Playing Phasmophobia, Astrobot and Spiritfarer.
With Astrobot I’m on the bonus levels and I’m still having a lot of fun with it. Team Asobi really knocked it out of the park with this one. I’m already itching for another platformer, so I think I’ll finally get around to Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 with the recent Switch release.
With Spiritfarer I’m so close to completing it. The story is basically done and I’m cleaning up missed resources. Fantastic game that I would recommend to anyone remotely curious in it, but I feel like this one went too long.
And Phasmophobia is something a friend and I have returned to after a two-year hiatus. It’s still good fun. Great to see some of the locations completely reworks as well.

If you liked the Demo a lot you should have fun with it. The story is very anime and very Japanese, but I think it has good pacing for a video game (keeps me going back to try and finish it). I just wish you could farm agent skills, there was a much better form Of fast travel (the locations you visit this game are a big step up from cybersleuth), digiride was far faster, and you could digivolve (or at least see digivolution requirements) in the digilab (it gets really tedious entering and leaving just to check).
