Will Bethesda Games be Xbox Console Exclusive?

I was certain too, until the Gold-debacle. That showed me that MS still is out of touch and I got worried again.

About losing interest, It’s hard to explain without sounding like a fanboi but if my favourite soccer team all of a sudden started letting their players also play for the competition I would lose interest in following the club which means I wont spend money on season passes, merch etc. I might still catch a match here and there, but not invest in it like I used to. If they don’t care, why should I?

So is Minecraft Dungeons the only Xbox first party game fully developed for all platforms, without any contracts or it being a second party game?

MS can fend off any critism by saying that they are making gaming more affordable than any before with GamePass. And anybody, who will say “but what about me spending 500$ and then 70$ games” will look like not the brightest person in the room.

With GamePass and PC, MS has a vocal support. All Bethesda’s games for 10$ per month (considering that you don’t need Gold for sinlge player games) . Who will say that they are making gaming worse?

As much as it sucks for folks on PS that played TNO and TNC, Wolfenstein 3 should be exclusive too. This is now Xbox’s time to shine, and if it’s planned for this year you don’t let that go. Hellblade 2 is being made, sequel to the first game and PS players won’t play it on their PS5.

I would like to see Xbox just commiting to exclusivity here. It’s still very much applauded, even when it sucks for players of other systems but that’s just how it is.

Ah got ya. I see your point and I understand it. As for Gold, yeah that was a big mistake. But their aim was to get more money, that’s what it’s all about. It wasn’t exactly wise to come with such an idea right now though, or at all.

Ah well, we’re close now. Colt wouldn’t have said next week if he didn’t know for sure they have news planned for next week.

They don’t even have to do that. Just point a finger in Series S direction. Isn’t that why they made it? An affordable next gen option?

Minecraft is a platform. not a multiplatform XGS ip.

I see it like this.

All Access for 25$ per month! Xbox needs to pump up marketing machine and a lot of people will cry asking MS to purchase more studios for GamePass. And will pressure other companies like Sony for similar things. It can literally be a shift in industry and the fun thing that MS can afford by simply being really profitable without even gaming lol

:face_with_raised_eyebrow: I fully believe the reason for this decision was:

well most hardcore players are already in gamepass and use gold. Most people who only use gold are on on a monthly payment. We could create insensitive to get ultimate over gold to make more subscribers.

Microsoft hates gold but it is still a big moneymaker (Jez told so)

Let’s direct consumers into gamepass ultimate as fast as possible to get rid of gold in a profitable way.
AND MAKE MORE GAMEPASS SUBSCRIBERS

Think about it the decision was dumb yes but it was to push people on to gamepass now take this goal on the Bethesda thing and ask yourself what would be the easiest way to accomplish more subscribers. (Definitely not putting games on Playstation)

I know that, that’s my point is Minecraft Dungeons the only game that was made for all platforms from the get go, because I don’t count 2nd party games, MS just wanted to keep those devs happy.

Minecraft is just THAT big. Kids buy merch and stuff it’s not just games.

I mean, they already have a darn good explanation with all games coming to gamepass.

But that’s not enough. Xbox has been around for generations now and it’s still not treated like Sony or Nintendo. They have everything in their hands to change that and at the very least make Xbox a platform big enough so publishers and developers just don’t randomly decide it’s not worth to support it.

And on that point, it would indeed be what they came with to justify not using such a large investment into making Xbox customers a 1st class citizen.

From what was said during the acquisition Mojang has free control over minecraft even where it launches and not just the main game but the whole franchise.

But yeah, it’s the only one that was seemingly like that.

I understand the motive, but by doing it that way and at that time showed a lack of understanding their customers. That lack of insight is what worries me. It’s absolutely possible that they think their fans won’t care if Bethesda is multiplat or that they think PS-fans will come to Game Pass for Bethesda games rather than buy them on their favourite console.

Name me a good reason why

Also…

Phil clearly said he got annoyed each time they released a game people would ask him “is this and that game coming to this and that platform”.

There’s truly one very easy way to get rid of all that. We don’t yet know in which way they’ll bring it news next week, be it a video or a article on Xbox Wire, but by saying that Bethesda games from here on out will now only be available on Xbox and PC is the way. No more begging of ports from folks and what not.

I think PC is going to play a big role in this because if it was just Xbox I could see it being crossplat but with Xbox and PC release they don’t need it. Games sell like hotcakes on PC, like look at Valheim it’s already sold 5m copies on Steam. ES6 would easily double that most likely JUST on PC or at least massively increase GP subs.

Like I said, I had no worries until the Gold-debacle which showed that they are out of touch.

Ohhh interesting, so in fact a event.
