these are some solid updates. lets keep them coming
Not the full achievement overhaul people were begging for, but hopefully that develops overtime. The Xbox Wire post is correct in that hiding (or even deleting) games from achievements is one of the most requested gestures. It’s consistently present and a top contender on every insider subreddit weekly requests thread. Sharma making a dedicated team to respond to fan feedback (though it seems small) is great for brownie points like that. Something like hiding achievements is such a low hanging fruit. It’s not a full overhaul or community trading card system like Steam (that’s what I want; add an additional reward to achievements, gameify it (better than Steam), and make this new community feature that generates engagement across the platform. Even just an achievement shop when you could spend gamerscore as a currency for profile cosmetics would be amazing (or bring back Avatars and let us deck them out)), but it is still something fans have been begging for and felt unheard about.
Queen Asha keeps on delivering.
Amazing what some new blood can do!
So… any other ideas besides “Make it a copy of trophies”? ![]()
I’m not going to get on X. Please reply, “Xbox Wire integration for easy access to Xbox news, some type of developer patch notes system, more community features, and the hail mary bring back Microsoft Movies and TV (I know that’s a wider MS decision but again hail mary). I’ll also hop back on the insider subreddit I guess.
God I hope it’s more creative than that. That’s the problem with mass feedback. The masses are kinda… “simple”. Stuff will just average out into the blandest answer. Xbox should have a unique system and I’d personally love for it to focus on 1) gameifying the process and 2) introducing new ways for the community to interact. Playstation trophies are boring. Like really boring. They make them feel more like an accomplishment, but I also just want it to be fun and something I can have fun with others with. Like to me the trading cards on Steam are a better starting place.
I’ll have to check it out.
I’ve always thought that game tiles should have optional notification icons on them for updates from the developers.
Some people would hate it because It would be equivalent to notification icons on the phone with a little red circle, but again it could be optional.
Also, I’ve always wondered what sort of innovations could be done to achievements and some of the ideas you listed are great. I’ve never paid much attention to Steam achievements but I like some of those things.
