What for weird issues? I mean Dead by Daylight is kind of a weird issue lol.
If the chinese are buying in Japan there is no excuse for MS: japanese government doesn’t like AT ALL chinese aggressive investments within their economy, there is a huge opportunity if even communist money are accepted.
Japanese government was never gonna block an MS acquisition of a Japanese studio. That was always nonsense.
Ooh, the Chinese can buy in Japan.

The concerns on Japanese acquisitions are so bogus.
The whole NFT thing with Hellraiser is a thing (huge meme in the subreddit).
Dead By Daylight seems to introduce so many bugs or issues with every update (the new survivor had one of her perks turned off within a day of release). They have a PTB (public test build) for this kind of stuff; guess it didn’t help well enough…
The management sometimes comes off very “we know better than you” at times, but it doesn’t help the fan base is a bit toxic too.
Overall, I still think they’d be a good pickup. They could bring a lot to the table with DBD, support work, and new projects. They could really benefit from MS with extra QA and resources in general.
I know, the infamous laws people talk about are about the chinese, which is my point @beastmode10, they were put in place to protect japanese economy from the aggressiveness of the chinese.
I had secretly hoped for a small chinese acquisition to stop all the bogus Japanese acquisition based stuff being written here in the forum
And that day - arrived. LOL
Now, make your move xbox.
I kind of expect that there are other hurdles associated with acquisition of smaller studios in Japan.
If I owned a studio, I would be pretty uncomfortable losing access to like 90% of my fanbase. Being owned by MS doesn’t mean the studios don’t need to be successful.
Actually… now that I think about it… would not be surprised if Behaviour is working on the new Killer Instinct game (at least in a support capacity).
We saw that they’re working on an Xbox MP project, problem is Xbox has a bajillion of those.
Some of the DBD killers would be good guest characters too…… hmm…
Played a lot of DBD and even grinded to rank 1 as survivor. For me it’s one of the most frustrating games I’ve ever played. So much phantom hits and network bullshit. Behaviour is crazy big right?
Did Jez say they were working on an MP project in an article? I did not hear that on xbox two.
800 people
Yeah, their employee count is over 850 per their Wikipedia page. Got a team for DBD, DBD mobile, a bunch of support work, and probably some other things too.
DBD is a really interesting concept and game that I compare to a fighting game. It needs so much balancing that it almost seems impossible and it’s incredibly frustrating, but it’s one of the most fun experiences out there for me (I’m a huge horror movie buff).
No, I believe we found something from LinkedIn or a job posting in the last week. It’s why they suddenly got brought up again (aside from my usual antics, the DBD maniac lol).
that is one large studio - and also, Montreal based.
Would be a good get as a first party developer + support studio for other teams, alongside someone like Avalanche.
Behavoir interactive has had a bunch of job listings starting they are working on a new AAA game and it’s heavily rumored to be coming exclusively to xbox /PC.

I still feel Xbox staff strength needs to grow to 100-150+ members at a minimum per studio.
A different way of going about doing this is by buying studios like BI.
Basically yes. You would be changing the structure of a multi billion dollar deal. Added to that with the deal going through regulators in multiple countries that process would also probably be reset, delaying the deal. Doubt anyone wants that
Absolutely.
Studios like Behaviour, Armature, Asobo, Certain Affinity, etc. could be hugely beneficial for both support work and original content.
I would not be surprised if Compulsion also gets help to complete their project. They are still between 75-90 members.
And Behaviour is next door.
