I am on the fence with crossmedia. On one hand, MS being into gaming only is good because they can throw more resources at it. On other hand, other companies and studios are also interested in promoting cross media content and Microsoft cannot offer anything there.
So companies like Konami and others, who are interested in movie industry are more likely to go to Playstation due to Sony Media etc.
Microsoft have some close ties with Paramount it seems though. Also Sega also seems to have close ties with Paramount.
None of those have any media production capabilities. I meant studios, streaming platforms etc. Sega making Sonic movie is no different from Bethesda making Fallout on Amazon Prime. Sony has Sony Pictures for example (unlike animation, they produce mostly junk though)
Sega has Marza, and I’m almost sure that Kadokawa has anime studios and some investment in japanese film studios, Bamco have Sunrise, it ain’t much, but you’re taking a big step in multimedia projects that can be worldwide attractions for a lower price. Paramount (formely ViacomCBS) belongs to another company called National Amusements and their reach is beyond multimedia.
I’m right there with you btw (have been since I created the thread). Given how much horror is becoming associated with Xbox, it just makes sense, and I’d argue that they’ve made fantastic branching narrative titles with only Little Hope being the weaker entry; House of Ashes was stunning, both in production values and in the creativity the game had towards its narrative.
As a Ubi fan this makes me hope that they do! Phil has previously spoken out against NFT’s and hopefully this would help them transition away from their recent ways.
