LMAO at that article.
This is genuinely hilarious with the PS5 Pro existing as an all digital console starting at $700. Even the OEM PC handhelds donât cost that much more. And you can build a comparable PC for a similar price. I mean just to start, itâs beyond foolish to fear monger about price right now. This past generation has really shown that. Who knows what will be happening in the economy affecting all prices when respective consoles launch. Still, just based on how things are now, I donât think having traditional console walled gardens is holding much on cost anymore. Heck, I called complete BS on Xbox having third party stores or being more like a PC until I saw how the PS5 Pro was priced and then the Switch 2. Xboxâs competitors are priming the market for a more expensive console that has less barriers
.
We donât really know the full picture of what Xbox is doing and what the next Xbox will be, but heck even in that super worse case scenario (all sales through third parties), I donât expect the Sony to subsidize cost that much for their console anymore.
Metro has picked the story up now as well.
There is no way itâs going to cost twice as much as a PS6. Weâve reached crazy town with these articles. Kepler is only speculating too.
Metro is a hack of a newspaper that always spouts pro-Playstation, anti-Xbox drivel and lots of hyperbolic scaremongering console warring crap
Yup.
Iâm really not gonna worry about any of this, itâs like whatâŚmore than two years away anyway, weâll cross that bridge when we get there. But while MS might be quite tone deaf at times, they arenât this stupid, lmao.
Add to the fact that this is the same person that tried to use what info he has on AMD hardware production to say that Xbox has only sold 23 to 29 million consoles currently. Which I think some people on otherera ran wild with it for a bit before Welfare brought out their estimates and the estimate of a reliable company to show that they were wrong.
I would think people would look at anything Kleper says about anything other than specs(even then grain of salt), as nothing but speculation or just that they donât have any knowledge outside their leaking AMD details of GPUs/CPUs.
Talking about âothereraâ, boy has that place become unbearable. Specially for anyone even remotely interested in Xbox. Pretty much every thread has that âFuck Microsoftâ " Genocide etcâŚ" sprinkled thru every page. Admims themselves actively post that every chance they get. Just not a good place for objective Xbox news.
As far as Magnum thatâs sounding like a real beastly APU. Canât wait.
Itâs something that I really hate that Microsoft is doing, so I have been planning on cutting back on a lot of their products, Xbox, Windows and Game Pass are not one of those.
But the threads over there have gotten to the point where they say you canât be personally using owning an Xbox or using Windows to throw shade at people. But some responses that I have seen that do so havenât even been given a warning for doing so, so it feels like moderators arenât actually doing anything about it.
As for Magnus, a 5080 on a Console PC hybrid would be something, the AI usage I hope is kept to the optimization of games through the techniques that Microsoft talked about this gen but never really implemented themselves(so basically right now FSR4).
I think everybody needs to take everything with a grain of salt. I know sales for Microsoft hardware can be better, but I donât think they will price out their consumers like that. I canât wait for the unveiling of it because it seems like a very intriguing hardware with both microsoft and sony heading into a multiplat future.
They donât even enforce their own rules, and their reason for not outright having the balls to completely ban Microsoft as per ââtheir valuesââ is because the site would lose too much revenue. Imagine having supposed values but not being able to follow through because you want the money.
I personally believe MS are actively looking into it and will take appropriate actions. I donât ban any of their products, and unlike most SJWs yelling ââFuck MSââ all over the place, I actually donate on a monthly basis to help out the people of Palestine through organisations like Unicef to try and make a difference.
As for the subject at hand, I canât take seriously MS going for a 1500$ system and Sony having a handheld more powerful than the ROG Xbox Ally X for the price of a Switch 2 and a 750$ PS6 almost par with the new Xbox (4K 120fps beast lol). MS has probably close to 40 million Gamepass subscribers and a good bunch are on Series S, and those are not people who will jump at a next gen 1500$ console.
Could I see MS priced 50-100$ above but with multi store options as a differentiator? Sure! Could I see a 1500$ super powerful system as well at launch? Definitely! But there is no way they are losing their market share with a 1500$ beast that will only sell a few million units and destroy their Gamepass subscriber base in the process.
I see the 1.5k and up to be the rumored 3rd party PCs that will get beefed up by more memory, higher clocks, better cooling and likely bandwidth.
Xbox sales this generation arenât even that bad. I mean they arenât the WiiU. Even the most conservative estimates of 25 million in 5 years, isnât bad. A lot of consoles couldnât hit that in their lifetime (including consoles like the GameCube). Hardware sales this gen are âfineâ. And on top of that Xbox is seeing more sticky users on Xbox One and users on Xbox One and Series consoles are consistently spending more (making each console user more valuable).
The issue is growth, and I think Xboxâs plan for that is to create a wider unified Xbox ecosystem with PC and Cloud. To really make this happen they have to fold the console in as the center and move toward a ubiquitous gaming ecosystem, but I donât think they want to throw away customers that are worth billions. Thatâd be insane. If weâre to believe Microsoft only cares about money then it stands to reason that they wouldnât do anything to threaten their revenue. Consoles have become a mature market thatâs not growing as much, but console users are still worth a lot of money.
Exactly. If they are to keep going, especially with all the money theyâve invested in, youâd think theyâd try their best in order to keep current revenues at the very least. Unifying all ecosystems into one in an attempt to grow is probably the smarter play here.
Yup, I could see the chip being scalable as to entertain a 1500$ version, but no way is that the only version on the market. If it can be an Xbox and a PC replacement at the same time, I could definitely see myself getting one though!
This reminds me of how, according to the usual suspects, the ps5 was going to be leagues more powerful than the series X, to the point that even top end PCs would be holding it back ![]()
All I know is, whatever the most expensive/powerful Xbox is, that is the one I am buying.
I can sort of⌠You canât launch every app or game with a joypad input command like you can on a console
Not thatâs issue to me, but get why old farts like my Xbox, SEGA loving dad, will only play on consoles ![]()
Yep. This is me as well. Just bring it.
You can start saving money starting now. Personally Iâve never done this myself, but if you can manage to put away 50 bucks a month , youâll have a nice amount once next gen rolls around.
I mean to this point you kinda can now (launch everything with a controller). Windows has made some great updates to using a controller and thereâs stuff like compact mode for the Xbox App/Gamebar, big picture mode for steam, and community software playnite (which is playnite). Itâs one or a few clicks and then you can never use a mouse and keyboard for most casual cases. I usually just open my Xbox Game bar, pop into an app (or straight back into a game), and thatâs it. And I do all that with my controller on my Legion Go.
Also do this point, once the Xbox Full Screen mode starts rolling out, this will be virtually a complete non-issue. At that point, is that every reason to buy a console gone? All thatâs really left are Nintendo exclusives, which, I donât think those are going to attract NEW gamers or make people switch FROM PC. I think consoles will be fine in that current fans will remain fans and people with their libraries locked down canât really move. But consoles already arenât really growing. And theyâre also no longer the âbudgetâ option compared to PC. Like the Nintendo Switch 2 starts at $450 and the Steam Deck starts at $400 and low end windows PCs arenât that far off either. And all of the latter have access to more games, donât need any subscription service to play paid only, play old archive games, or have cloud saves. Same with the PS5 Pro costing $700+. Discs are also going away on consoles (even Nintendo is letting physical slip this gen), so that benefit for them is gone.
It feels like weâre reaching a point where consoles are kinda struggling to justify their existence. And I think if not older gamers (like us) who are entrenched in our console(s) of choice, then theyâd probably dissappear like last year.
You have to use mouse and keyboard unless you use something like the Xbox app or Steam Big Picture mode, but I donât think in this day and age a mouse and keyboard is something people have a hard time with.
Windows is Windows and Linux is Linux, of course the graphical user interface isnât primarily designed for a controller, but installing a storefront and using it is simple enough.
For me it was mostly about people saying they have so many issues getting games to run or how settings make things super complicated, yet I find that todayâs PC gaming is miles better than it was in the 90s or early 2000s. If you have a Geforce card you can basically use their app to optimize all of your games according to your setup with one simple click.
Plus with different screen setups you choose how you want to play. For a cinematic game you might want higher graphics and lower framerate, for a esports title like Overwatch you might wanna focus on getting 400fps if you have something like a 360hz display. You donât get that flexibility on consoles.
I will however say that for some reason the younger generations are computer illiterate. Like they donât understand basic things like file types or how to debug stuff on a PC. People in their 30s and 40s who kinda saw Windows evolve from all the way back from stuff like Windows 3.1 to today have a much easier time it seems, or thatâs my take from working in computer environments for the last 15 years.
