Its true. Look up how big Bungie is. They would cost way more than Mojang. 750 employees. They are the largest “indie dev”.
Their employee count is irrelevant. CDPR owns their own store front, Bungie would probably cost less than a billion or 1.5 billion to acquire if they wanted to be.
You said earlier Destiny is no where near big as Minecraft yet Bungie is apparently going to cost 3x as much as Mojang ![]()

Yes, Destiny is not as big as Minecraft, but Bungie would still cost more.
You keep saying this but haven’t explained why they’d cost so much.
This is so tiring. Can you top derailing the thread(you can look up most of these things anyway)?
Translation: “I can’t back up anything I say so please stop calling me out on my BS”
Got it ![]()
I always thought to this day, that if Minecraft is on PS4 is only because it was already there when they got bought. And one thing is not releasing the game on a competing platform and another completely different is pulling a game that’s already there from the store. The backlash would’ve been enormous (specially at the time) So I think that of course they’ll present it as them being cool and allowing PS users to play Minecraft, but it was more to prevent the bad PR
Minecraft is one of the biggest and best selling games on Playstation and Switch. You can say its for good PR but pulling those games off of those platforms means MS may as well gather several large piles of money and light them on fire.
Ultimately the business is set up to make money and I dont think Microsoft would be stupid enough to make things exclusive and loose tons of money.
jez corden technically said that bungie with destiny is in 800 million https://twitter.com/JezCorden/status/1284503154332258305?s=19
Pd. I don’t really see what’s the point of the talk of destiny 3. Bungie right now is making a New ip (Matter). Even is possible that destiny 3 won’t even be a thing, bungie said that they are going to keep the support of destiny 2 for more years, maybe until matter is released and they see if it is more successful than destiny so they can drop the idea of destiny 3
What’s the point of acquiring studios if they don’t make exclusives games? If a studio can’t help the brand to be bigger and more attractive then why would you acquiring them?
And the exclusives are now more important than ever for the future of the brand. If halo infinite is really going to be moved to 2022, then Microsoft is going to need a really impressive line-up until the end of the generation. Because 2020 and 2021 are already a lost battle.
I would put bungie at 800 mil to 1 billion. Really it doesn’t matter much about how much staff they have because you can’t have ownership of talent. Developers can always just walk away. Only thing of value is destiny is. CDPR is worth 7 billion because of gog store front, the witcher and cyberpunk ip
Some old bungie ips are quite interesting to bring back, marathon for example.
that I agree but those ip don’t hold much value.
Even if you look at employees, CDPR has 1044
Halo IP needs a second studio for it
This way every 3 years we will get a new Halo game
Also i’m not talking about Bungie here
Yes, I never said it didn’t make them money, of course, otherwise they wouldn’t have it on other platforms.
But, if they made it exclusive there would’ve been a lot of people that play mainly that game that would’ve had to get an Xbox to play it (andthus buy any other game they could be interested on the MS store).
So yes, they won’t be earning money from PS players (not sure if not being on Nintendo would go hand in hand, as they seem to view Nintendo differently), but they would be earning from Minecraft playwrs that chose the platform because of the game, so it’s not all or nothing.
So, since both ways meant earning money, I think the deciding factor was not having yet another wave of backlash (let’s relember it was not long after the debacle that was the One’s launch)
