Imran khan was reporting that Shinji has been wanting to leave since 2019 but worried if he left, zenimax would shut down the studio. Seems he’s happy with where the studio is if he leaves
I think Xbox knows they would be crazy to shut Tango down now, especially after Hi-Fi Rush. Tango is a crucial in-road to the Japanese market and development scene.
Edit: It would also be a monumental PR fuck up. They’ve openly said before how they learned hard lessons from Lionhead.
That’s interesting because this is roughly the period that the rumor surfaced about him planning to go to M2 (the studio who worked at REmake 3). It hurts that Mikami-san left Tango but at least it looks like he prepared the studio for it, hopefully Tango continues to be just as awesome without him.
Really curious to see where he will end up after this though…if he isn’t retiring and all.

I know some people will argue with the like of Stalker 2. The thing is, the dev never touched the soil of console. Not to mention, Xbox has been fair with timed exclusive. PS, we don’t trust, especially with all behind the scene during ABK case. Going back to first point, when devs worked on the platform for long period of time and then say nope for present and future titles, that’s betrayal. That’s the difference.
I think people just have issues with Sony’s lack of transparency when it comes to their advertising deals and or exclusive deals, not the potential exclusivity (even tho that’s not the case here).
