Xbox Game Studios |OT3| Once more....with feeling (Part 1)

I wish it was E3 already, my favorite time of the year since I’ve became an adult

The E3’s of old was truly Christmas time.

I miss that feeling.

Was it because of what was presented or how it was presented in the booths when each booth would try to outdo the other in craziness and objectifications?

Today, I’d rather have the full details written up online and a video available to cover the material instead of any live shows. That’s how I want all future XGS/XB events to happen. The live event is only there to garner some reactions.

Ghostwire looks cool and all, but I can’t stop dreaming about that total freedom unlocked turbo no chains Shinji Mikami final alpha megazord game that he’ll be able to make.

I think it was just because of E3 at it’s peak was truly THE TIME. There were really only like E3, TGS at the time for gaming news. That was it. Everybody showed up and went balls out.

The internet wasn’t what it was today where you just drop a tweet and take the world by storm.

I mean look at E3 2018, Microsoft won that E3 with great games, acquisitions and more.

E3 as a cultural event should exist in some form, doesn’t necessarily mean the ESA is a good host of it. Summer of gaming was a goddamn mess. If its impossible for Crowbcat to make a cringe compilation of your gaming event, is it even a noteworthy endeavor to begin with?

Laymen Gaming did a good video on this.

This is how I bet @OneBadMutha @Sikamikanico @SuikerBrood @Knottian must feel like in this thread with myself and some of the others in here:

avoiding mess is always good :stuck_out_tongue:

I just pretend you are all very well-behaved.

In general, if you think a post you’ve made is being flagged while it shouldn’t be, message us and we take a look at it. Flagging posts because you disagree is a big no-no.

Back then it seemed like leaks didn’t exist, or if they did, it was extremely difficult for the information to spread. At most you’d have some magazines (remember those?) that would speculate on what might happen. But those had to be written up so far in advanced for publication that it really wasn’t detailed enough to be a leak.

Going forward, it seems like there’s substantially more events happening, and I’m not sure that’s a good thing. Anyone the size of Microsoft/XGS/Xbox doesn’t need these large events to present their information. But I can understand how it might be very useful for them to use it to get larger media attention, seeing how local news still have blurbs on the larger events like CES and E3.

However, the smaller devs/publishers can greatly benefit from these sort of events when they were held in person and gave great opportunities for networking. I don’t see that happening in 2021 just how it didn’t happen in 2020. I’m not sure if it’ll even be on the table in 2022.

Are there any write-ups on how some of these smaller dev shops get involved with XGS? Who reaches out to who? And how? Is it the equivalent of cold-call where they send a DM on social media or an Email now that everything is virtual?
