Xbox needs to grow their studios pretty hard if they want the same level of quality as PlayStation, the talent and potential is there, they just need the support.

Indeed. I just find it odd how people would believe these studios would remain the same, now with Xbox Game Studios tag. They will evolve and we have seen games that benefited from it. Maybe it would be if Microsoft wasn’t all-in, but Xbox is no longer a secondary toy. They are taking it serious.

(Including Hellblade II at TGA) this is FINALLY the year for gameplay showcases. Can’t wait to see what’s cooking.

This is false. Halo Infinite, Elder Scrolls, Minecraft, Forza Horizon… Sony has fallen behind.

For a lot of folks it has to be a certain type of game with certain characteristics to be seen as equivalent quality.

Yeah that seems to be the case. It’s pretty obvious Xbox has more of everything.

Some of the studios still need to prove themselves, others need to step up the polish. Halo Infinite is not a great example when it looks how it looks and shipped how it shipped.

Halo Infinite is not a good example seeing as how it launched (despite it ending up good), Minecraft isnt leveraged by xbox in any kind so idk why mention it (dungeons launched ok I guess) and Elder Scrolls hasnt launched an xbox exclusive yet. Forza is the only one that fits this when compared to Grand Turismo of sorts and Psychonauts 2 was an excellent game in all cases supremely polished from start to end. I assume @Shakez doesnt mean game quality only and he is also talking presentation.

Some studios like Undead Labs and Compulsion have to prove themselves moreso than the others and I wanna see if Inxile can ship an incredible AAA product (which I believe they can).

Halo Infinite is the best FPS of the year. Hell it’s the best game of the year. Give credit where credit is due. I think Sony and Nintendo would never be able to pull that off with a fps.

A quality gap between PlayStation and Xbox is a dated narrative since the ZeniMax pickup. I’m also expecting a number of XGS teams to be showcasing high production titles going forward but that’s beside the point.

I have given it credit. The fact that it dropped how it did despite all the issues it had is amazing but it also dropped without co-op, an insanely low amount of modes, limited map count and forge delayed for a minimum of a year for a game planned to be a launch title for the Series X|S so Im not gonna ignore it.

The game looks good but it could look infinite(ly) better graphics wise and performance on Series S leaves a lot to be desired right now.

I mean is there a reason one would use TES for any xbox argument right now other than saying its coming? We haven’t seen a game since Skyrim.

Also I prefer xbox games to Sony games before yall start tilting me as some unnecessary complainer just try to be fair. Xbox future is super promising so Im looking forward to it hoping they deliver.

Xbox has a lot of studios that aren’t using to having the gift of time and money. They do great work with the constraints they’ve had to deal with but still need to “prove” that they can compete with the big dogs.

We see Zenimax Online Studios and Playground Games expanding drastically. I wonder why some other teams aren’t getting that experience. Why isn’t Bethesda Game Studios opening like 250 job openings themselves? Why not drastically increase staff of Rare so they can work even more projects or crank out Everwild this upcoming year? I want to see Xbox hire or procure 2000 people (either hires or support acquisitions) in the next two years and really expand.

You can’t make studios expand if they don’t to.

You can put someone there that wants to or you can pick someone already there that wants to to run oversee the expansion.

Rare especially, since they’re fully integrated to Xbox and have messed up before.

Not every studio is the same
