Well, nothing really. Even the graphics are unimpressive IMO. I just think it’s “airless” PR with no meaning, nothing really worth getting worked up over.

Tried the new saints row and m y god, the shooting and driving are soo stiff and horrible

Buddy of mine said there are rumors about Sony buying SE, I didn’t see any new rumors other than the usual.

Honestly, they can have them. They haven’t brought anything truly great to Xbox in a long time, FF is over anyway for Xbox too. The only reason to dislike it would be Dragon Quest, that would be a loss.

Nah there’s no new rumor, it’s just something people are trying to will into happening because acquisition wars, Xbox fans are also trying to will it into happening so that Sony spends all their acquisition budget on something that doesn’t affect Xbox.

I get annoyed by those wishing it happens because clearly they don’t care about us who enjoys Square’s AA output on Switch.

There’s no point in Sony even doing it when their relationship is so good that they can just lock down all of their AAA output anyway (even if FF7R and FFXVI come to Xbox later, the damage is done), and Sony definitely doesn’t care about their AA games (making absolutely 0 effort to help advertise Octopath 2 on Playstation, and now the PlayStation version was an outright bomb)

Yeah, when I asked him he said it was based on what SE recently said about FF16, lmao. That is not even a rumor, that’s just speculation based on not a damn thing.

By the way, as for Dragon Quest. Say that in the future SE does end up at Sony(wouldn’t shock me), someone a while ago said they won’t necessarily get Dragon Quest with that. I forgot to ask why that is, was this you?

The Square Enix rumour originated from Grubb and some others who heard that there were acquisition talks between Square and Sony last year.

We haven’t really heard anything about it since then, but Sony has been railing hard against the ABK acquisition and optics would be dogshit if they tried to acquire a publisher themselves whilst protesting the ABK acquisition.

The Dragon Quest IP is supposedly not held by Square Enix and instead held by a company created by the key creator(s?) of the franchise. They licensed the IP to Enix, and now Square Enix - it would be their choice whether to continue that arrangement in an acquisition. But, I imagine it is more likely they would stick with Square unless there was some unfavourable aspect to the new situation. This arrangement has been going on for decades and all of the Dragon Quest production is at Square.

I’m pretty sure all that “I love you Sony!” stuff was said to just be a joke and whatnot lol

It was not just me who said DQ doesn’t come with a Square purchase, but yes, it’s another Kingdom Hearts situation, Square has exclusive publishing rights on the series but it’s not their IP. Yuji Horii’s own company Armor Project owns some of it, and I believe Akira Toriyama also has some ownership (and side note, Toriyama’s art being involved with DQXII automatically makes me think this game is not the M rated mature action game people think it will be) and the composer Sugiyama did as well (I don’t really know what happened here after his death though).

Basically a long time jointly owned IP between good buddies lol, but I believe it’s Horii who has the final say on everything that happens with it (meaning if Sony ever attempted exclusivity on it, it has to pass by him… Extremely unlikely with how damaging it would be to the brand in Japan, it would come to Nintendo no matter what, although it’s worth noting that this doesn’t guarantee Xbox)

I am not against an acquisition of Square Enix by Sony. It would be a good response to Microsoft’s acquisitions (much better than crying to regulators), and it might save Square Enix from its disastrous management. Square Enix could also be an opportunity for Microsoft to expand into Japan, but honestly I don’t see Square Enix joining Xbox at all. If that happened it would probably be the biggest WTF in the history of the industry lol

Aint shit Sony can do to realistically “respond” MS buying ABK. Fanboys got to put that to rest.

I didn’t know the expectation for the new DQ was that it would be M rated, but I do hope the combat is real time like a action RPG. Like FF7, Witcher 3, MHW and so on. But that’s all hope and not really based on anything other than that they said the combat would see a big change.

Just saw this trailer, yeah this looks really good. Man I’m gonna have to get that PS5, aren’t i? But with a strong chance of a new version of PS5 I will definitely wait.

As someone who likes both turn-based RPGs and action games, but dislikes turn-based RPGs being turned into action RPGs, I really hope they won’t do that.

Nah dont worry. Its just Sony desperate fans wanting to will into existence a “counter” to MS’s acquisitions. Current market definitions are not favorable for Sony to do big acqusitions if they ever try to do one.

I saw a PS5 in real life for the first time yesterday. They’re um… kind of GINORMOUS. Like geez, if I ever wanted one it’s definitely gonna have to wait until a Slim model for me.

Yep. I saw one in a store last year and my jaw dropped. I couldn’t believe it myself. It’s just too damn large and too high for your regular IKEA shelf.

It’s basically a very oversized router.
