So don’t let Ubisoft try something?

I’d rather they try and continue with the unique charm and approach that Immortals already had, rather than try to make it into something else that I don’t enjoy.

Still trying regardless of not your liking. They’re stuck in try and true or not broke, don’t fix formula.

Works for me. I like Assassin’s Creed and I’d rather have another AC sequel than an Immortals game that plays like Elden Ring. I’m just some mook with an opinion though. Ubisoft gonna do their own thing regardless of what you or I think.

Agree to disagree. Still, it’s a downer that the franchise won’t get another chance.

I was thinking that Xbox should tin sleeves for the Series X and they did one better with this. With tin you can get high quality and long-lasting printing done on it.

This seems even better. Tin will have a metallic look to it unless you print on it.

Though I still think they should pursue the tin idea for controller faces.

My only issue is price. I think $29.99 USD ($39.99 CAD) is the perfect price for something like this where I would actually collect a few. Some would be impulse buys.

$39.99 is a price where I’d get a couple in a generation.

$49.99 USD ($69.99 CAD) is a once in a generation purchase for me.

The reason why I was thinking tin was because it would cost pennies to make and can be ultra affordable, and have insane profit margins.

So yeah my only reservation is price. The design is fantastic from the Velcro to the exposed vent and ports area . The Starfield design looks exactly what I would want from a Starfield custom console. The potential for having all sorts of IPs represented with the skin is tantalizing.

Minecraft, Halo, & Forza are obvious first party IPs that would look great on it but the third party stuff like Sonic, Fortnite, and CoD (no wait, that’s first party hahaha) would be incredible to see.

Going forward, I wonder if bundled consoles that include a game would also include a console skin for the game. At this price I sort of doubt it. But it would be interesting to see.

For those that don’t know what I mean by tin, here’s an example:

He’s been doing it so long I’m not sure even he knows the difference at this point.

LMAO if the switch version is 30fps. The 360 ran them at 60. Hell ps2 did

Xbox wraps are a great idea! I hope they make them available to buy custom ones in the Xbox Design Lab.

I hope that Xbox also allows third parties to make their own.

Someone in a Xbox thread on different forum said that we have to wait and see how these wraps really look, because these renders can make stuff look better than what it really is. While not untrue, I think they made sure to make them look real good. Hopefully a video soon.

I read an impression that said that it looked high quality because each element has a different feel and texture to it. Some parts are glossy, some parts are matte.

For this reason I can understand the higher price.

This sort of construction also allows for embossed elements as well, if you think about it.

Oh that sounds good! I really might end up with that Starfield wrap, hopefully they don’t sell out too quickly.

I also wonder if this might open the market for cheaper (but could be good) ones via something like Ali Express and stuff, haha. Custom ones of Batman or anything else by DC, anything really.

For sure. If Microsoft can license this out (which is important in having something that meets specifications because you don’t want to overheat your console by putting a sweater on it via unlicensed product) this could be a moneymaker like Fortnite skins.

I’m hoping developers and publishers are looking at this with excitement. At the same time, we haven’t seen much for the PS5 plates.

MS probably did their research on pricing and while I don’t think these are mass market prices I think it will still be pretty lucrative.

I think a plain white one would look great and fit in many home theatre spaces well, but also would be cool for DIY artists that want to marker-paint their own custom designs.

Yeah, it could open up to many cool options.

I just hope if other parties start making theirs that MS won’t go after it and cancel it, like Sony did with those faceplates that weren’t theirs.

If we can get some cheap “knock off” but good ones, I am all for it man.

Because I’d love a beautiful Skyrim or Witcher 3 wrap, but chances of that happening officially are small, but maybe by just fans? Let’s go!

All in all I’m just very happy that MS is doing this. I didn’t expect this at all, and this shows that they DO bother with bringing new ideas to Xbox, even when some seem to think they don’t do enough or are kinda pushing it aside so to speak.

Colin is clueless about MS and Xbox, not that it surprises me.

He has a few valid arguments of course. We are all worried about F2P, mobile games, monetization, but it’s been going on for a while like Rand and Jez tried to explain to him. I think he kind of gets it sometimes, but then he begins to ramble about value and Sony being more creative than MS. He even go with the argument that Xbox has too many IPs now and to him, that doesn’t make sense to have so many characters under the same umbrella.

He’s grasping at straws trying to support his weak arguments and it’s mostly nonsense and worries about Xbox dominating gaming while admitting that Xbox is far lagging behind Sony and Nintendo.

It’s entertaining and I like that Rand and Jez just let him ramble and don’t try to go against him or change his mind. Rand even remains silent for a while and then destroys all of his arguments about Game Pass in one go.

So maybe the MGS remaster situation is not that bad

  • All platforms except Switch – 1080p / 60 frames per second target
  • Switch (docked mode) – 1080p / 30 frames per second target
  • Switch (handheld mode) – 720p / 30 frames per second target

Upping the res to 1080p but not 4k seems strange but its Konami :person_shrugging:

Praying that this changes before release day https://twitter.com/XboxANZ/status/1693858300151185583?t=wPEINsgh2vItY0jmZ__37w&s=19

On the positive side, even at 720p, the HD collection looks so clean in BC. It’s a cleaner 720p that any port from that era. I played MGS3 a few months ago and it still looks good and sharp on my 4K screen.

So 1080p will be a bit cleaner, at least there’s that. I’m still skeptical that it will be real 1080p resolution and not 720p upscaled to 1080p though.
