Def not gonna happen before the PS/PC release. With the already rocky development and Cygames still getting used to console development (I mean, this will be their first major shipped console game) I can’t imagine they’re prepared to just add on another platform during dev like that.
Its more. Halo has multiplayer. Some gamers only care about the multiplayer and so only play the multiplayer which drag down the completion rate (I recall bungie once said half of Halo Players only play the multiplayer or campaign, the other half play both)
Horizon and god of war are single player one and dones.
Yeah, a single player linear story game where completing the story campaign is literally the only way to interact with the game is not a fair comparison.
Sony mindset though. A one-and-done single player cinematic campaign game is the only kind of game that counts as a “real” game.
Damn it looks clean.
This looks incredible ![]()
is there new gameplay footage?
Immortals of Aveum, a Redbox original.
Where does everyone get the info for Xbox/PlayStation game completion percentage? There’s no way FF XVI is close to 40%.
There’s a true trophies and true achievements website for PS and Xbox. Not sure if it’s self reported or if they scrape the data from Live/PSN.
I guess one could look at the achievements themselves as well. I think the completion rate is shown there. At least on Xbox.
Of course a game needs to have a “beat the game” achievement/trophy for that to be effective.
That’s a great point as well. It was such a bad comparison for so many reasons… Really wish they’d challenged him on that.
I took a look at rhythm games available on PS5… no real direct comparisons to Hi-Fi Rush but it’s at least less disingenuous than GOW lol. Thumper was less than 3% beating the last level. Rez, which is popular with the VR crowd is only 15%.
Unfortunately the problem with both Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush is that there isn’t anything truly easily comparable on PS5. Which worked out in favour of Colin’s original disingenuous argument.
I do think though that from looking at Halo we can certainly conclude that large AAA games with a well received single player have similar completion rates whether they are purchased at full price or sub service day one.
Whether there is a positive or negative impact on completion for games like Hi-Fi Rush is hard to say. And even if there was a low completion rate doesn’t mean it wasn’t successful. It could have been played by way more people, who sampled it and moved on, or bounced off for some reason, or completed it, then it would have if it had been a full price purchase. Like maybe 400,000 people tried it, 200,000 liked it and 24,000 people finished it (not real numbers obviously.) Whereas if it had been purchase only perhaps 100,000 would have tried it, 80,000 would have liked it and 10,000 beat it. Game still would have been better off in scenario one. Lot of words to waste on Colin though.
I just wish they’d pushed back on some of his examples and scenarios harder instead of letting him set the framework for the discussion so often.
Colin should have just used UK physical sales. Everyone knows that’s the true metric for success. ![]()
Screenshots, but they will show more in Xbox interviews and such tomorrow.
Dont forget about Phil Spencer

Tomorrow is the Fanfest trivia contest as well. A few of us did pretty well last year, but it looks like the prizes don’t stack this year. Still fun and you could win stuff if you’re signed up!
True Achievements only uses accounts that are registered there, I think. The Xbox app is showing 9.7% completion rate for Halo Infinite on my end (sorry the image below is not in English).
It is also a F2P multiplayer game tho, so I imagine that drives the completion rate way down since most people haven’t even touched the campaign.
Regardless, you would indeed expect lower completion rates on Game Pass since a ton of people use it to try games with no intention of sticking to them and that is indeed the case. I’ve checked a bunch of games:
Yakuza Like A Dragon:
- Game Pass: 7.4%
- Steam: 34.5%
Tinykin:
- Game Pass: 21.7%
- Steam: 52.7%
Firewatch:
- Game Pass: 30.4%
- Steam: 61.2%
Wasteland 3:
- Game Pass: 10.8%
- Steam: 23.7%
BUT
Is it a bad thing? I’m more likely to finish a game if I buy it in the first place, but I only buy games if I know I’m rather likely to like them. On Game Pass, I try them to see if I might like them, so that lowers the probability of finishing them exponentially. But if I do end up liking them, I tend to play to completion.
Yeah you can’t use True Achievement numbers. I was in the Patreon comment thread for that episode of Sacred Symbols where Colin talked about Pentiment’s and HiFi Rush’s completion rates, and the folks in the comments drew up much better examples.
For example, Gears 5 (AAA game that launched day one into Game Pass) has a lower story completion rate than Gears 4 (same franchise, no Game Pass back then). I forget the exact numbers, but the difference wasn’t insignificant.
Ultimately, I don’t think these kinds of metrics matter though.
I think there will be at the stream today.
Do we expect Stalker 2 release date today? I’m not sure because apparently that retailer retracted that it was releasing in December. Could also be that the publisher asked him to say this of course.
IGN has to be trolling Xbox now they write this at the bottom of their Persona 3 impressions article despite the game being announced at an Xbox showcase and being on game pass
Something seems fundamentally wrong with that site
“ Persona 3 Reload is set to release 2024 on PS5 and PC.”
The only thing wrong is folks not IGNoring it.
