Just my two cents. Xbox the publisher is heathly as all heck. Xbox the actual ecosystem and hardware? Yeah, outside gamepass and play anywhere, it needs new features and all that stuff to compete otherwise i think Xbox is focusing too much on game value and not enough on ecosystem value that should be talked more so than just the games speaking for themselves.

I am willing to die on my hill about me being critical of xbox and its multiplat push whenever is see them do it when they do so without any incentive for xbox users.

But in this case, there is plenty of incentive to buy the next gear game on xbox instead of playstation(Free upgrade unlike the other console).

However i do think being highly critical of the ecosystem, especially now since i think its Impretative now more than ever cause they could loose a lot of customers once the next generation of consoles come alongside new pc handhelds and such. Cause i will say that if xbox starts prioritize porting games instead of actual investments on its own ecosystem then it will be a much bigger issue, which i still feel like it is(Just call me crazy on this, it just feels like this is the case for now in my eyes) unless you count gamepass(Which is still just a fragment compared to everything else).

Sorry if am being too critical. its just that i genuiely fear that Satya would one day say Xbox users don’t matter anymore since we get more money from playstation and nintendo users and that would lead him to say the ecosystem is no more and to buy games on playstation or nintendo. I genuiely think Satya would do just that and that actually scares me a bit, even though i have started to build a little bit of my library on Steam and Gog because of that guy.

I’ve actually started to build my Gog and steam library up and really hope they’ll all be playable on the next Xbox.

Am critical if this is even true. It sounds way too good to be true and knowing how Xbox is, that is likely not what is gonna happen and its just wishful thinking from the media.

They step on tomatos and rakes like its a carnival and this feels like one this time. They really need to start rammering about why should people stay or remain on xbox and all that stuff, which i still think they are failling at horribly. I just hope they actuqally show something or another that actually benefits those on the ecosystem instead of your ussual gamepass or play anywhere argument(Great things yes, but just those won’t be enough to convince folks to remain and that is what they should be trying to focus on, retaining xcustomers and making sure they don’t leave).

Is shadow drop a new trend?

Even on my phone it looks incredible. The details are insane.

Out of the blue, they probably didn’t want to risk it getting leaked.

Prefer this, instead of the hyping of a trailer date reveal. It looks great.

It does feel like more third-party titles want to do the show solo. It makes you wonder if the showcase still has many games to show.

It looks very good, but I’m just not hyped at all. And that’s fine, the wait is crazy long as it is, with always a chance of another delay. It really hurts my hype, ah well.

Truly wish more publishers would look at how Fallout 4 was announced and released like 5 months later, Split Fiction same story.

Hell, Oblivion Remaster.

GTAVI announced it pretty early in hindsight now.

:man_shrugging: Graphically it looks mind blowing, but I already knew that. I’ve bounced off of too many Rockstar games because I wasn’t having fun; I need to see what it’s actually like to play.

Yep also how much of that is the actual graphics and how much is the CGI (even if “in engine”) for the story?

And very much agree on how it is to play - GTA5 looked amazing but the cars drive like crap and the shooting is stuck in the PS1 era (not even Xbox / PS2 era as Halo and CoD were starting to happen by then and were much better!), while the controls are just janky as fuck considering how big and expensive the game was to make.

If it manages a modern control system without the jank, with details and graphics anywhere near these trailers, it may really be worth playing almost as a “life sim” game - I suspect the story itself and the characters I may avoid as I much prefer my crime movies / games to be Mafia / The Godfather inspired and not Florida hillbilly cops and robbers…

Oh look a day that ends in y, where we have yet another run of the “Xbox ecosystem is doomed, time to abandon ship” narrative after yet another successful run of game launches. Glad to see such originality after seeing the same thing for two years…

I’m just laughing now. I’ve seen people on reddit trying to explain how Quick Resume, ease of access with Cloud and PC and Game Pass were game changer and that PS5 is only for the few exclusive games.

If you only play on PS5 you don’t see how bad of a deal you get. Still they’re glad to pay for Xbox ports from 5 to 10 years ago full price…

I sold my PS5 because I was planning to get a Pro. Then I just decided that I didnt care about having one at all and never replaced it.

Isn’t this a bit like saying ‘I don’t know what the point of a product is other than the things the product offers’? The games, and their being on Gamepass and Play Anywhere ARE the point.

Further, MS want to get you into their ‘ecosystem’ any way they can - even if that’s contributing cold hard cash via PS5 purchases (patchy; often late atm), Gamepass on console or PC (they want both! They don’t care! Why people still don’t get this, I don’t know), mobile, etc.

Yes, I’m sure they’d like people on their consoles next gen, but they so clearly don’t care too much if it’s not (better cut, obviously, than on PS!), because they’re trying to be everywhere. So you can be ‘in’, you can be ‘out’, and you’ll still likely end up giving MS money.

In moving away from console exclusivity (which they started years ago with day 1 PC, lest we forget), MS have said ‘fine, argue the list wars and sales charts all you want. We’re gonna make more cash and use that to make our products/eco system (Gamepass!) as strong as possible.’

I still have doubts about this strategy, cause if you port too many games ,not all mind you, where does that leave your customers who is using your ecosystem at? Just gamepass and play anywhere is enought? There’s still the issue of publishers and studios skipping the platform, which could expand moreso if fewer people buy into the ecosystem, which is my another thing needed to point out given playstation’s moneyhatting ways.

For me, building a PC ensured I’d never need a PS5.

Which, can I say how amazing Play Anywhere is? I already have ~500 games in my Xbox PC library, which is about a third of my overall games (Steam is separate). More publishers jumping onboard will only help things and it’s why the Xbox ecosystem is light years ahead. I can start playing a game on my XSS/XSX, take it on the road on my Ally X or my RP5 via XCloud, and then if I want to push things to the max, I can jump on my desktop. Choice is such a wonderful thing.
