Viability, Xbox cemented as a platform that will receive all games. Right now Xbox would only lose games by doing this.
And streaming should be the main way you play your Xbox games, if Nintendo gets xCloud now, Johnny who only bought an Xbox will still miss on Switch games, and several others due to contracts with Sony.

If I play only on Xbox I would get less games than someone who plays only on Switch. I would get less value.

If xCloud is coming to switch which will have XGS games and yeah that have to stream it but @Shpeshal_Nick said both Xbox fans and Nintendo fans would be happy what would the Xbox fans be about?

That is the reality of streaming services.
PS-only owners can play your games (they have both phones and TVs), same for Switch only owners.

I personally don’t care at all for Goldeneye. I loved the game 20 years ago, but I don’t see myself playing it nowadays.
And I would love xCloud on the Switch with joycons support! My phone is too small (although being one of the biggest screens out there) and the Switch-like controllers for it are way too expensive in my country.
And as it’s been discussed when the Switch Pro leaks surfaced, 720p is more than fine on a 6.2" screen.
I mean, a 720p resolution on a 6.2" screen means more than double of PPI when playing on my 4K 40" screen. 1080p would be overkill.

If Xbos was a streaming only service, I’d get it fine.
But people still buy hardware to play games, buying an Xbox would have less value than buying a Switch.
I mean it’s pretty subjective.
What I think Xbox AND Nintendo fans would be happy about, might not be viewed that way by someone else

I can’t speak on this particular rumor. That said, there are Xbox owners that own Switches. There are also Xbox owners that have been begging for a portable Xbox.

Microsoft has made it so you don’t need to buy am Xbox to play Xbox games. If you are fine with streaming, your Xbox console has… NO VALUE
They can play it, not on their consoles, if they could, why have even an Xbox console? It won’t happen until Xbox is ONLY streaming.
It has Value, it’ll play those games natively and it’ll be the only console that can plays those games.
If Switch can play the same games as an Xbox console, why buy it? why does it exists? Even if I can play games natively on it, I get better value with a Switch full stop. Xbox + Nintendo games? sign me in.
In one post you are assigning value to being able to play games natively and then taking it away by saying you can play the same games on a Switch.
