That’s almost exactly what I said. Notice the line about Final Fantasy too which I also alluded to how Sony wants it associated with PlayStation again. Microsoft, do the same with Splinter Cell.
If this Splinter Cell Xbox Exclusive is real it gone to cost a lot i can see a 100-200 million plus deal to get such a title.
Sheeesh that’s gon be fire. Irrefutable evidence right here too.
Lmfaoooooooo alright MS, give them more of the Rare N64 catalog, no problem. ![]()
Not sure about my financial and math knowledge but that amount gotta be less than what GP generates in a month. There could be games where MS should throw $100m+ and be like who cares if this game doesn’t make all that money back directly, being on Game Pass ‘hides’ those costs in some way, it gotta be, especially when it’s at +40m subs.
Yes it less but still that a lot to pay for a single game you can buy a great Dev studio for 100-200 million.
I’ll say it’s a new Splinter Cell game which was rumored last week to have finally been greenlighted. I could easily see Ubisoft accepting a payday from Microsoft to make it fully Xbox Series/PC exclusive in order for them to eliminate any risk of it bombing and not getting back the money that they would obviously put into it. In exchange, Splinter Cell gets to stay a linear/wide linear (at most) single player third person story driven stealth/action/adventure game ala Conviction with an MP mode including the return of Spies vs Mercs.
Yeah, I can easily see this happening. And it makes a shit ton of sense for both Microsoft and Ubisoft. Also, could rejuvenate the franchise which after the disappointing Blacklist needs it.
I don’t know if anyone else thinks this way too but Microsoft didn’t seem to give me a lot of the things I specifically wanted, but things I never knew I wanted…
Starting with Game Pass itself, that’s the best thing in gaming in last gen, period. When it got serious in 2018 I was like ‘of course! Why wasn’t this done before?’
Then with Bethesda, which still to this day seems unreal to me. I wanted certain studios and one of them was Arkane, but them getting the whole publisher was like almost dream-like.
And then with a lot of the hardware stuff, from quick resume which made me play more games and was a game changer in how I play, to FPS Boost, and the BC support.
Is this game built on the TR engine?
Cuz both SE Montreal and CD seem to have some really good performance capture pipeline.
Either way, I don’t know if this game doing well shall make it easier or harder for MS to get the SE West division
I dont think even with good reviews its going to sell well . sadly .
I don’t know whether Eidos is on the table. Looks like Crystal might be.
“Xbox BC is no big deal”, lmao. Expecially when concerning different architectures, Xbox BC is unmatched by a huge margin, even moreso by cheap efforts like the Nintendo ones.
IMO if they’re tryna get Crystal, they should get Eidos too. Both have been sister studios for very long now, certainly do a lot of tech sharing and co-development, would be weird to just leave one of em behind tbh.
Yeah. Fingers crossed.
Daniel Rubino, who is the executive editor for Windows Central, said it best during his podcast: innovation isn’t giving the people what they want, it’s about giving the people something they didn’t know they want/need.
When attributing this to MS, sometimes they’re too early and sometimes they’re too late. But when they stick the landing, the effects are felt.
