High On Knife +0.5

Finally took the time to play this dlc for High On Life! As crazy as the main game with new places to explore, new weapon and a dumb story where you are tracking down a package for Knifey  If you enjoyed the main game this is a solid expansion.

Final Fantasy XVI

The final story achievement didn’t pop, so I guess I have to load up the save and try again. ETA: Closing the game and loading up my save again shook it loose luckily.

If it was a pre-order, isn’t it a 0?

+1 Lego Movie Game

Yet another game I’ve had for forever and never really got into. It’s really faithful to the movie and has a lot of the same humor so if you liked that it’s pretty good.

That’s a good question. I preordered it on Halloween 2025, but wasn’t charged until about a week before release. Since I could have easily canceled until then, I thought it would count as a purchase for 2026. Want to weigh in @Mort

I would probably count it for this year as that’s when you paid and bought it. But I rarely do preorders so I’m not too familiar with how people view that.

The problem is if you preorder things, take a negative point and then months later change your mind and cancel. Then getting a point back, etc. it can get a bit messy. Easier with actual purchases.

I would agree. A pre-order is not an actual purchase. You can cancel it any time between the pre-order date and launch of the game.

Plus, you could have preordered something that gets delayed or even canceled, preventing you from recovering the point. So I agree that you don’t count a game until it’s playable, even if you preordered it.

The pre-order thing gets complicated when it comes to DLCs - I saw last year and this year us all taking -1 for ordering The Outer Worlds 2 expansion pass and others, plus I’ve just taken one for FH6 upgrade.

If we’re not taking negatives for pre-orders until they release, does that include DLC?

If so then I’m at 1 not 0 as I don’t need to take a negative for FH6 upgrade…

Those you pay for when you buy the the Upgrade, it’s not a pre-order.

It’s the point where money is exchanged, not when it releases. The thing with actual pre-orders is that it seems to be some sort of long-in-advance booking system where you can just cancel anytime up until money is transfered. More like an advanced wish list? (I do not use pre-orders, as very rarely does digital copies run out)

OK thanks for clearing it up - happy to keep the negative then as I think the money’s already gone from my account

+1 Resident Evil Requiem

I finished my first playthrough Thursday, but needed time to think about it. I rated it five out of five stars on TA last night. I believe this is the best game in the series, which is already one of if not the best in the genre. I could not think of a better game to represent the genre as whole, hence the high rating.

The game is paced well, with three clearly defined acts, each will their own different gameplay feel. Within two of those acts, you switch protagonists, which significantly changes the experience. This leads to a game that never overstay its welcome, keeping you engaged throughout the entire runtime (my first playthrough took 17 hrs). You are also given a choice of how to approach many parts of the game. Would you rather be stealthy and conserve resources or go in guns blazing, killing anything that moves? All of this combines for a very replayable experience, especially when chasing challenges and meta unlocks.

The story evolves throughout the game, especially if you stop to read the files and notice things throughout the environments. The ending can almost even be considered a twist, if you weren’t paying enough attention. There’s also a lot of callbacks to other games in the series from the OG RE 1+2 to the most recent mainline entry of RE Village, creating a satisfying weave of lore for fans of the series and interesting tidbits for those that look hard enough.

Gameplay wise, everything seems to have been perfected. Exploration is easy with the map system for those who want to explore off the beaten path, with enticing rewards for those that do. Gunplay is refined, especially with Leon’s arsenal and weapon upgrade system. Stealth is a viable strategy for much of the game, I especially like that the flashlight no longer alerts enemies, allowing for the stealth strategy to be viable even in dark areas. The bosses are varied and and reward strategy. Not to the extent of a souls like, but enough to exploit for an easier time or to conserve resources. While NG+ isn’t technically available, many things carry over to future playthrough, including things not unlocked through challenge points, adding to the replayability value.

I believe it’s the best game to recommend to any player interested in the series or the genre as a whole. I also believe that it’s a GOTY contender, especially if GTA VI gets delayed again. If that doesn’t mean it’s a five star game, I don’t know what is.

Fun game in game pass, I did end up using options to slow it down a bit and add invincibility, but still did my best to dodge and play as intended. Some very tricky enemies, lots of hidden areas and a lot of powers added over the game, it’s really good and I appreciated that it had options that let me finish it.

+1 Assassin’s Creed Black Flag (X1)

Been playing this since last Fall (also played a few missions of the X360 version and they’re surprisingly similar graphically), and while I did enjoy it a lot, I still prefer the newer games and the AC 2 trilogy over this. Excited to see what the remake does with this.
