It will be interesting if Xbox has a new console in 2027 and Sony doesn’t.

I just hope it happens. 2027 is so close!

Because Xbox is a PC brand going forward, I imagine it will have more iterations akin to mid-to-high-end PC gaming of 2-5 years versus a normal console cycle of 6-7.

Leaning into PC gives them and OEMs so many options to deliver high and low end models, refreshing hardware with any major or minor inflection points.

I just want MS to release the CPU or whatever chip it is they made to let me make a custom PC that has full BC with Xbox. Like, why not just make a deal where all AMD chips now come with Xbox BC implemented? Would be a dream come true!

My brain is remembering a quote from Phil about wanting to get rid of the “next Gen” status and doing “major new hardware” Xbox every 5 to 6 years. I could imagine them doing that and then OEMs will just do what they do, which is release new gaming PCs on yearly iterations with just less expected sales and more controlled production. I imagine Microsoft will have their partners with the Xbox AMD chips, but I wonder if they’ll also just straight up force (or heavily suggest) all gaming PC OEMs to boot into FSE on startup or shove “Xbox” into their name like the ROG Asus Ally.

Was hoping for Fall 2026 but Fall 2027 is better than Fall 2028. I want my all in one console already damn it!!!

Now I wonder if AMD is going to do another PR video with Sony where they talk with Cerny and allude to a 2027 release? or even the 2030 release date that has been rumored.

I guess Reddit and Twitter will respond to this news without trolling and console-warring, right?

Fab news just what Xbox and Xbox console fans need.

AMD is ready, but is MS too?

With each big AI player willing to spend over 100 billion on RAM and GPU’s for datacenters this year, nearly double as much as 2025, i doubt it sadly.

I really hope so tho, that’d mean the AI bubble is starting to pop, but right now that scenario doesn’t seem likely sadly.

The reality we are on right now is that pretty much all the GPU’s and RAM that will be produced this whole 2026, is already pre-bought by MS, Meta, Alphabet etc, with gamers being left with the future 3060-like graphics that will be produced back for gaming .

Things are volatile nowadays and god knows i am almost always optimistic with this kind of things but fuck listening to these huge companies’ earning calls doesn’t give me any hope

I think they’re aiming at 2 different things , so it’s whatever imo . I think for Microsoft it’s best to launch 2027 with the series sales shrinking. The key for Microsoft will be how they market it because there’s a market for this product despite what the internet is saying. There’s many that want to get into pc gaming but don’t want build hardware and want a console-like experience

Bring it on, although, I’m still concerned on how Microsoft expects this to get supported by some 3rd parties if they’re not expecting this thing to sell at least 30 million units, which if it gets priced too high it may not.
