We’ve heard you want more ways to customize Home, so we’re expanding the number of groups you can add from 2 to 10. Managing groups is now easier too, as reordering now uses the same familiar experience as reordering games on Home. We’ve also made it more intuitive to pin groups to Home in My Games & Apps and made it easier to see which groups are already added.
Custom Color
We know expression and personalization matters. That’s why we’re introducing custom colors, giving you more ways to express yourself across the console. Instead of being limited to the existing system colors, you can now create a custom color that’s uniquely yours. Use the sliders to dial in the perfect hue and shade for you. You’ll also see a subtle splash of your chosen color in your Guide, which you can turn off at any time in Settings > General > Personalization > Customize the guide.
To make sure everything looks great across the console, a few guardrails are in place. And if you switch back to a system color, we’ll save your last custom selection so it’s easy to return to later. To start, custom colors will be visible to other Insiders, and they’ll roll out to everyone with the April update.
Quick Resume Settings
Quick Resume is one of the most loved features on Xbox, but we’ve heard that for certain games it doesn’t always deliver the experience you expect, especially after long periods of inactivity. With this update, you can disable Quick Resume on a per-game basis to ensure those games always launch fresh.
You can find this option by opening the More options menu on a game tile and selecting the Manage Quick Resume option, or by going to Manage game & add-on > Quick Resume Settings.
Profile Badges in Guide
Profile badges highlight notable moments and milestones across a player’s Xbox journey. Now, when you open your own profile or view another player’s profile in the Guide, you’ll now see their five most recently unlocked badges, making them easier to spot while browsing profiles.
They just started working on them two weeks ago? Disabling quick resume for online games has been a request since 2020. If this is true that’s major points for Asha. I don’t know why they wouldn’t have done something like that earlier. Guess I’ll go back to the insider subreddit suggesting stuff.
Yeah, I don’t want to speculate, because I don’t know either, but it feels like there were some roadblocks lifted, as soon as or right before Asha came in. No complaints here. It’s the small things that adds up.
It’s possible that these features were being worked on slowly, but not as priority until Asha stepped in. I also remember how the creator of showcase presentation reflected that she never felt so pumped up in a long time. I think the power is back, so only time will tell.
Just disabled quick resume for Overwatch! That’s been six years coming. Also idk if that was this update, but the cloud gaming settings on console are appreciated, and the guide looks nicer.
I’m glad Asha is listening. It makes you wonder what Team Xbox priorities were all these years. I guess working on Cloud and PC took time and resources away from the console.
There is no way that these features where worked on and released in the last 2 weeks. We already know Xbox has multiple levels of testing builds that they do, this update has more than likely been getting worked on for months.
Honesty the likely scenario is that they were due to release soon and got held back until the new CEO was in charge. To make it seem like she’s listening and getting things people want done.
That’s what I’m going with and I take it. If more good will and right focus continue, there’s no need to be highly skeptical. Of course, further down the road like in 5 years it will change compare today, but for now, just cruise along.
Yeah I guess the outcome is still the same (in that we get better features) even if it’s all just smoke and mirrors in an attempt to win some love for the new CEO on the block.
I totally get your doubt but remember when Jez said many times that numerous features are almost ready but they never get released to the public because of priorities/budgets changing (like community still being a mess, the mythical achievement overhaul e.t.c.)? maybe it was such a case that while some of those features were almost ready they shelved them before and now with Asha they were finally tested and released (and at the insider program).
For QR, they need to implement a feature that prevents the game from being updated until the user gives the go-ahead. I lost around 20-30 minutes of progress in Expedition 33 because of an update being rolled out the other night.
Custom colours are a nice touch; I hope we see more improvements to make the OS look/sound more premium.
I don’t know why people care so much about things. If you want to logically think about the timing of this in the back that they said it took two weeks it doesn’t mean that all the work was done or started two weeks ago but that one she came in one of her first things was was the feedback we can quickly work on.
Who knows maybe a year ago they were halfway there on the quick resume thing this just let them really focus on finally finishing it?
In the end I don’t think it matters and I don’t know why we’re having so much debate over it
