Control Resonant's Early Access Is PlayStation Exclusive

Remedy really needs to learn NOT to take exclusive deals with either Epic or Sony at this point.

'Cause I can already see this becoming another Alan Wake 2 thing.

That is shitty from both of them. I guess the motivation is money and it’s a small thing that they feel doesn’t impact the player much, but it will be 2 days where people will talk about the game and probably spoil it for others.

These early access things should end. Even 2 days is too much.

Is is launching on steam yeah? Considering how well early access does on Steam, if we see the FH6 and Sub2 numbers, not having it widely available is kind of a deterrent to the game.

Specially if Onimusha ends up offering it.

Is this the first time early access was exclusive to one console?

It’s not the end of the world or anything but it just seems like a weird unforced error by Remedy. Who wanted this and who does it benefit?

I think it’s the first time someone moneyhatted an early access.

Sony wanted this and it supposedly “benefits” their fanbase by making them feel “first class citizens” I guess. :face_with_tongue:

And there were these exclusive skins and Kojima mission for Control that other platforms got only recently via an update… At least it’s just an early access thing this time.

Yeah I remember that there were some bonus pre-order items/missions for the PS4. The early access thing is better than this and at least the Xbox version is Play Anywhere now which is very nice.

This honestly just seems kinda sad from Sony. I don’t really care. I wasn’t planning to buy day one (though this will hurt day one and pre-order sales for remedy so they should care), and the game is still launching Xbox Play Anywhere and Handheld optimized and probably with cloud gaming support at or near launch. But for PlayStation umm, is this where they’re at? They can’t really pay for third party exclusivity as most publishers and developers are realizing it craters sales too much. They also have the worse value proposition compared to Steam, EGS, and Xbox as all three have free cloud saves, PC is PC, and Xbox also has more games Xbox play anywhere at launch. And Sony doesn’t do day one AAA games on PS plus. So we’re left with, “Buy a PS5 so you can tease people online with 48 hours of FOMO.” It looks really sad with how their slate of first party exclusives is coming up (just not that many) and their ongoing issues with studios and failed live service games.

Maybe MS should do the same with COD on Xbox.

They’d be taken to court. Like instantly. 1) because Microsoft is held to a different standard 2) because COD is significantly more impactful than Control Resonant could ever be and 3) because they did specifiy parity in the 10 year COD contracts.

While I enjoyed the combat in the first Control, I retired it at around the halfway point so im very happy that I don’t have any interest in Control Resonant so this shitty practice by Sony and Remedy doesn’t affect me whatsoever.

I would rather see Xbox did some deals with SEGA myself & fight fire with fire. None of this being nice or moral crap

Asha, you know what to do! Time to money hat that new Jet Set Radio!

But if Sony is to keep money hatting stuff, MS needs to go back to 360 generation business school. Maybe Asha needs to hire Peter Moore as a consultant!

As far as I can see this is both sad and pointless. Sad because Sony are now reduced to paying for two days early access on only the digital deluxe edition of a game and pointless because every single comments thread in the history of the world about Xbox early access has had every single PS owner commenting in it about how early access was an idiot tax and they’d never pay for it :).

It would be nice if our boss put some money towards SEGA & gave us some Xbox exclusive features or early access for XBOX consoles

I miss the days of E3 2001, Xbox showing off the new JSRF with Peter on stage announcing Crazy Taxi 3 & HOTD 3 for Xbox

I’d rather Xbox invest in their ecosystem than in being petty. It’s gotten to the point where even the market leader struggles to money hat exclusivity due to lost sales and hurting a game’s ability to capitalize on its marketing budget. How much do you think third place would have to pay? Also looking at Sony third party exclusives haven’t done them any favors this generation. Sales aren’t significantly higher than last gen and their partners are abandoning them for multiplatform. As a gamer it also just doesn’t lead to any actual consumer value or improvements on the platform. No thank you. If Sharma has money to inject into Xbox then that money should go into Xbox and benefiting Xbox gamers, not harming and being petty with competitors. I’d take Xbox paying for games like Stranger than Heaven to be Day One game pass over them paying for 48 hours of early access when you pre-order the most expensive version.

Nintendo Online has Sega Genesis games, and I always wondered why MS didn’t get a deal with Sega to have a Dreamcast emulator and have a Dreamcast Online Library on Xbox. Bring back online functionality by emulating the broadband adapter for games that support it! Alien Front Online and Outtrigger baby!

I couldn’t agree more.

Xbox really should look to add some SEGA Arcade games & Dreamcast games to Gamepass with fully online play

Loved Alien Front Online & the likes of Ooga Booga online on the DC. I hope its true with the news that SEGA is making PSO 3

You might not like it, but it works & let’s face it, you’ll love for the Series consoles to be selling as well as the PS5 consoles.

I like to see more deals with SEGA & Xbox, but I would rather see time & money put into proper Xbox exclusives from the 1st party studios & real effort into getting Xbox the best console to develop on, like in the OG & 360 days, where so many developers said Xbox had the best tools, libraries & development kits & a renewed focus on the BC program
