PlayStation at their business meeting said they were aiming for 10% or more on their profit margins. If this is where they are at 10% what will 30% look like for them. What will they need to do as surely when Xbox starts hitting that the Sony investors will ask the same for Sony which I think will be the real show. At this time Xbox is managing well to get there but I fear PlayStation will cripple trying.
I definitely still think demanding 30% profit margins is concerning, but aiming for 10% is certainly concerning in its own way. That doesnât sound like a healthy sustainable business with how inflation and the economy is currently.
I was on the show a few weeks ago, Luke and Logan are great
I love the click bait videos I get recommended on Youtube âOMG HALO WILL BE ON PLAYSTATIONâ did they miss the part where Xbox has been trying to port everything to PS5 for a while now? Why would Halo be the exception? Seeing some great online metrics for this reveal btw, obviously itâs only a campaign remake so it probably wonât be expected to do 10 million players in a week or something but it will be on PS5 and Game Pass and Halo used to sell 4-5 million copies in the first week on the Xbox 360 alone, not crazy to see this do like 5-6 million players in a week and sell over 2 million or maybe even far more than that depending on how many people who played Halo as kids 25 years ago are feeling about this, many of those people might be on PS5 today so itâs good to try to reach them. No pun intended lol.
I think being a remake of a such a classic game and multiplat at launch, immediately available to a combined console base of probably 120+ million users, Halo can make a big comeback here, just look at the numbers the Resident Evil remakes are doing, I saw something like 10 million copies sold for RE2 Remake and I remember 4 Remake having some huge numbers and I think Halo has been pretty comparable to the RE franchiseâs popularity, with Haloâs peak being higher than RE, but Halo has never been on PS2 or any platform that popular so, who knows, this is a big opportunity.
I probably shouldnât get this angry, but it really fucking grinds my gears when people say âclosing studios damages the brandâ and thatâs why Xbox sucks when the average consumer has no idea who is making these games and PS has closed more studios this generation and they have a âstrongâ brand as ever among console warriors.
Honestly Halo could even make a bit of comeback if they just ported Halo Infinite MP (only) to PS5 and Switch 2. Itâs not like Halo is particularly bad right now, it just had a rough outing (not even a rough start, Halo Infinite launched to massive success, it just couldnât maintain it). All it needs is the slightest jolt and we back baby!
Thereâs nothing more frustrating than the double standard. Especially when we see how damaging it is to the industry on the whole.
It wouldnât surprise me if PS is putting more of their games on other platforms because of profit. While their hardware is well, their software is slacking. Itâs why they decided to go to more of engagement approach, and to only expand it more, theyâre going to need more of theirs on other places.
I donât. You donât spend almost 100 billion dollars simply to go for a low profit margin. That kind of spend equals big business. Iâm also sure they would have considered other places to spend that money that would have given that 30% or more. Nintendo seems to get there in strong years, so I think itâs achievable and itâs a target not a demand.
The Xbox tax, even though many will deny it as well.
Seen this for ages.
Xbox closes studios = theyâre horrible at managing talent!
Sony closes studio = well Sony had no choice ,was the talent delivering? Well these things happen in this industry.
Agreed.
Xbox tax is 100% real because you can see it from a mile away every day.
Assuming that Xbox becomes a niche hardware option that doesnât compete with PlayStation. Do the console warriors chill at that point? Will we be allowed to just enjoy our green console in peace? Do the Sony and Nintendo fans turn on each other? ![]()

If they put their games on Xbox, theyâd get a few hundred million extra in revenue, probably even more than that with he big ones like Spiderman and God Of War and they wouldnât lose console sales at all, Iâm convinced, but they definitely do think that not having their big single player games on Xbox is good for their brand, at least for now, Helldivers 2 is still doing great on Xbox, great spot in the top paid and most played sections in the store, and I bet you it didnât have an impact on PS5 sales, it only makes sense to port more games.
A PS5 port makes sense due to similar audiences, I donât know if a Switch port would be worth it at all.
Nintendo and Playstation havenât been in competition with each other for so long that those 2 fanbases donât seem to care about each other, I do see some chirping online due to Nintendo paying for a Fromsoft exclusive but thatâs it, itâs gonna take just a little more for PS fans to stop caring to mock Xbox I guess, I think when Halo is finally on PS5 and next gen comes around, Xbox will be a PC hybrid and PS6 a traditional console, then that will be the end of it. Maybe Sony will have put more games on Xbox by then.
CoD Xbox ads are appearing on NFL games.
Doesnât seem like Sony is marketing COD anymore so Xbox has to do it I guess, I do see a ton of Battlefield 6 ads all over the internet with the PS logo, including on this forum XD
Going Live
Yeah I was already sold, but now Iâm even more sold, this looks great, the complaints about the visuals not being true to the original just seem like nitpicking even more now. Just give me a smooth performance at release.
